That looks a lot like a ministry bag over his shoulder. Surely
the elders aren't letting him out on the fs unsupervised? I
read that one of their rules is that one of their rules is
that anyone convicted of child abuse is only allowed in
service accompanied by another jw.

SUN is All Over Peado Porter
by V insource.
the wife of vile jehovahs witness paedo michael porter vowed to stand by her man yesterday.
porter, 38, who abused a baby and 12 other young boys, was released by a soft judge last month.. the sun tracked him down to his new home, near where he strolled hand in hand with loyal wife joanne.

Do You Believe Having A Body of Elders Made The Organization Stronger?
by minimus inlooking back over the years, would you say that from the society's point of view, that developing a boe arrangement worked out well?
and from an individual point of view, were you affected more negatively because now there were more elders that you had to account to?
-
dedpoet
I'd say it made it easier for the watchtower to keep control of its'
members, which would be beneficial from their point of view.
This would be especially true if most or all of the boe were
true "company men", which in my experience most of them
are. -

Vocalization about being a JW v. being an XJW
by sweetface2233 ini know that a lot of jws are very proud of being jws, but ever since i can remember i would be very quiet about it.
i wouldn't announce it at school or work.
i would shy away from the subject.

Being a convert to the religion, I was quite vocal, at least until
my last year or so when I started to doubt the watchtower.I'm just as vocal nowadays in my anti - watchtower activities.

Would You Be Disturbed If A Casino Opened Up In Your Area???
by minimus inin massachusetts, the governor unveiled a casino proposal yesterday.
some are very much for it: others are solidly against it.. would you be against having a casino in your state?
?.

There is a casino about 5 minutes walk from where we live,
but we have no problem with its' existence. Neither of us have
ever visited it, but I hear it is open most of the night. If so, we
don't notice it, there are never any reports of trouble there. The main problems around here are caused by young or
even underage drinking, whch has worsened since the UK
licensing laws made it legal for pubs and off licenses to
sell booze 24 hours a day if they wish. If 10 casino's opened
around here, I doubt it would bother us. -

We are the small tip of the tip of an iceberg
by ThomasCovenant inin my area of the world i know of at least 15 members of my family and friends that have left the watchtower because they no longer believe it.
all of them are aware of this site and my viewing and posting on it.
however apart from one, who posts here as veen, none of them to my knowledge are particularly interested in coming to this site.

What it indicates to me is that whilst it is 'encouraging' to see more and more new ones introducing themselves here it means there are many many more who leave the WT and are more than happy to get on with a new life away from it
I know what you mean, Thomas.
A friend of ours from the same kh stopped attending a while ago, but
hasn't joined any ex jw boards, and isn't really bothered about doing so.Actually, she met my best friend, who has never been a jw, and they
hit it off straight away and have been together for 7 months now. They
recently moved in together, are planning to marry next year, and though
she is fading, the elders are now aware of her domestic situation and
have invited her to meet 3 of them at the kh. She isn't going, so I guess
he df'ing is imminent, but she doesn't care. -

How would you answer this jw?
by dedpoet ini've been having an online conversation with an active jw (it has to.
be online, none of the local ones speak to me).
i said this, about jws.

His reasoning is that anybody who is active or even knows about the 'anti witness community' is in a cult. On one hand jw's think there is some main organization (
I suppose that's to do with the kind of conditioning that jws undergo -
they are encouraged to give up their individuality and adjust to a
kind of herd mentality that negates the need for having any kind
of independent thoughts. I guess when they meet someone who
can and does think for themselves, they are so unused to it that
they can't believe such a thing is possible. Therefore, everyone
has to be part of some kind of "organisation" in their minds. As for me, I'm a member of the Campaign For Real Ale, but that's
a social organisation which hardly qualifies as a cult. -

Do You Recognize Your Baptism?
by sweetstuff ini was promised that this generation would no means pass away.
(live forever book, pg.
154) i brought this up, although it has probably been discussed before, because i am sure some people right now are worrying how to handle an elder's visit or call.

dedpoet
I did when it happened, but I was 41 at the time, and more than
old enough to know better than get embroiled in a cult like the jws.15 years or so after the event it's just an unpleasant memory,
like the rest of my time as a jw, and one that fades with every
passing year. -

I would answer that with a question. I would simply ask him, not sure, which one do you think you are?
I did ask him a question, but not that one. He made this rather curious
statement about me, and I can't for the life of me think what he means,
so I asked himFunny how I feel YOU are the one trapped...and in a cult!
Well, if atheism is a cult, then he could have a point, although I don't
follow an atheist governing body or a charismatic atheist leader. He
hasn't replied yet.As to my reply to his question, I used just one word, both.

in generalIt's difficult not to be apathetic towards jws, as well as sympathetic to those still trapped in the cult
To which he replied
Think I'm TRAPPED, dedpoet- or just deluded?
I have replied to his question, but he hasn't got back to me yet. How would you
answer?
