I was in the Air Force back in 1960. Stationed in Germany. Took a trip to Amsterdam. Went to a midnight jazz concert. After the concert we all went to an after hours joint to a Jam session. There was a Saxophonist playing and he sounded really good. When he finished he came down off the stage and joined our group. I said, ?Man you are really good. What is your Name?? He said Stan Getz. (See this link www.duke.edu/~lmw4/biography.htm) I don?t know if you young folks know anything about Stan Getz but he is one of the greatest Jazz Saxophonist who ever lived. Remember "The Girl from Ipanema? Yes, I got his autograph and I still have it. He signed my program from the concert.

Has Anyone Ever Met Any Celebrities?
by imallgrowedup inthis is a spin-off of another thread where my *mild and chaste* friend, mouthy, admitted to wanting to meet her dream man, tom jones, and that she would even go so far as to throw her bloomers at him, if that is what it would take to get his attention!
well, the mental picture this painted was far too much for me to bear, so i encouraged her to save her red polka-dotted "unmentionables", not only because she might need them in the future, but because i didn't think she'd have to go that far to get his attention.
and i said that - because of a personal experience with him.

petespal2002,
I see the situation developing where WT is going to fall.
Information available on the internet about them is what is going to do it.
When that happens it won't be a shock or a surprise to me.

The Watchtower Attendance Crisis
by metatron inif the average congregation has about 83 publishers in the us, then the organization may be sinking into a crisis.. take that 83 and consider that half the congregations may have less.. take away '15 minute publishers' who don't attend.
take away completely fake publishers who rarely attend.
take away increasingly tired publishers who 'feel sick', are depressed, or just want to stay at home and watch tv.. .

You Knew The Score!
by Englishman inmany years after i was df'd, i found myself at the end of a shunning campaign led by a robotic jw neighbour.. the neighbour had moved in next door to me.
he'd even borrowed some tools of mine before he discovered that i was an ex.
at this point he began a serious "i'm ignoring you" strategy which i found utterly hilarious as he was the one who had chosen to move in next door to me.

What we didnt know the score about was the false prophecies, lies, lifetaking errors, cruelty and all these things that would eventually make us want to leave.
Brummie,
You said that perfectly.
I would like to add that I was very surprised at the lack of love because I was love bombed for years before I joined.

What's your favorite JW word or phrase?
by Sara Annie inin a minimus moment, i find myself interested in knowing which buzz-words and phrases in jw publications stand out the most to you?
when i read wt literature, i constantly find myself astounded by how transparently cultish the language is.
in an earlier, unrelated thread, i said the following: .

Who Was The Very First Poster That You Met In Real Life?
by Englishman inthe first poster that i ever met was philo.. we'd traded a few stories via the site and i realised that we knew some of the same people down in portsmouth.. he was very cagey as to his real identity, but eventually we shared emails and he told me all about himself.
one day, i took hl down to portsmouth to see my daughter who lives there.
i'd mentioned it in a post, that i was going in that direction.

The first poster I met in real life that I had not known before is Gideon. Check his first post at the link below.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/48053/1.ashx
Gideon and his wife drove 160 miles to meet me and my wife. I have since had the privilege of being able to meet his whole family.
He is a fine man and I am proud to call him my friend. Gideon and his family are moving on with their lives.
