My Brother Died in a Car Wreck Last Night
by WLG ini just found out about an hour ago.
he wasn't even old enough to drink yet.. to make it even sh*ttier, he had called me a few weeks ago and asked if he could come out here with me but i couldn't do it at the time.
so of course the first thing that comes to mind is if i had done something different it wouldn't have happened.. he was going through the sh*t as i call it, when witnesses go off the deep end and get into everything in the world to stop hurting and they don't even know what is wrong.

Are JWDers helpful to each other?
by AuldSoul ini used to think that this place was a good spot to recommend for exiting jws.
in some wasy, it still is.
but if they want to test the waters of doctrinal evaluation i believe it is nearly impossible.

I don't really see the sense in being rude or deliberately disrupting a discussion on a thread. If you don't want apples, there are also oranges, bananas and grapes on here, so to speak.

I have bought tons of stuff on Ebay and amazon.com. I have also bought air line tickets. I definitely prefer online shopping.

COULD BE GONE FOR AWHILE!
by Dansk indear all,.
those of you who have posted here regularly for the past four years have helped me immensely in my recovery from watchtower and have shared with me in my journey.
you will also know that, after winning my battle with watchtower (save for one daughter who is still stuck fast in the org and shunning the rest of us), i have been fighting an even greater battle these past three years - cancer!.

HELP - my boyfriend's ex called and wants them to reconcile....what to do?
by Juniper ini've been seeing an amazing man for a few months now.
i recently found out that before we met, my boyfriend had been thinking about getting back together with his ex-girlfriend.
(who is going through a divorce of her own right now) they have a two year old son together.. he says that if his child weren't involved, he wouldn't even consider going back to her.

You are too good and sensible to be a door mat or waste too much time on this.
"Fighting" over a man or a relationship or an idea is wasted time. It's all on him. If he chooses not to make that mistake again, would you feel secure in the relationship?

Can a jw go be a policeman?
by reneef inwould this be frowned upon these days if a person decided to go to the police academy?

Thank you for the answer. I wanted to know if a jw in good standing could decide to go to a police academy and become an officer. I think most policeman carry guns. What happens to people who collect guns or go shooting then? They must give up their hobby?

they are no longer shunning me....
by BlackSwan of Memphis ini am shunning them.. after some recent developments with my family, and resulting anxiety, i am now the one who has made it clear i want no contact with them.. i am making this clear because i can't say at this point that they are shunning me and i won't claim that anymore.. i did this for the sake of my own sanity (no comments please) and because i need to move on with life without organizational bullshit games that are designed to manipulate and isolate people.. i am not advocating this, i am not saying that this is right and good, it was what i needed to do to survive.. over the winter, i had made this decision, wrote a letter, but could never muster up the courage to do it.. today on the phone, after being told that the reason i could not have family support while hannah had been having her health issues was because they didn't want to offend jehovah, i told my mother that was why i want nothing else to do with any of them.. and that was the end of the conversation.. so..the end i guess.

There comes a time when you hve to take back your power and get control of your own life. You teach people how to treat you. So you have just told them you don't find this treatment acceptable.

I've been studying with JW's for a few months..
by MichaelM ini've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.
i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .
but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

I would get a signed, legal lease. Seriously. You would not be the first to depend on a jw and end up screwed.
Jws are really good at teading people & figuring out what they are looking for, then adapting themselves in order to manipulate others. You will not win an argument with them, they spend many hours a week being brainwashed & taught how to twist & manipulate. I don't think you need a father figure. I think you need to figure out what you are interested in and like for yourself. I think you can find better "friends" that don't judge you or try to pursuade you to adopt their religion or point of view.
I hope you stick around Mike.
