i have posted a couple of times, so i guess i should introduce myself.
i don't want to give out too many details as i am baptized and have not decided what i want to do.
i've been fading for awhile--no one in my cong.
Welcome, Calico!
I'm 'fading', too... this site is great. Enjoy!!

my 8-year-old son asked me yesterday if i liked going to the kh.
i told him "no, not really.
" he said that he doesn't really like to go all the time either, but we have to go if we want to get into paradise.. i allow him to go to the kh with my parents when he wants to because he does like to go.
One thing that I would strongly urge is that you have to STOP telling him that he's not a JW until he gets baptized, because right now that will only make him want to get baptized ASAP.
OMG, that just gave me chills..... They are 'encouraging' kids to get baptized younger and younger now. Age 8 or 9 is absolutely within the realm of possibility.
I agree that you need to get him OUT.... Keep him AWAY from the meetings!!!! The more he hears the rhetoric, the more likely he will be to believe it. Even if he doesn't become a JW, then you run the risk of his going through life with a guilty conscience, thinking that he is not living up to what God wants him to do. Get him away from there....NOW!
I also think that you should open his mind to other religions, other books written for children. Take him to church. Read to him. Talk about the bible, about evolution, whatever you want! Open his mind, and then he will truly be equipped to make his own decision when he is old enough.
Wishing you and him all the best!

At christmas we used to cover all the shrubs and trees with tinsel.
That is so funny!! I love tinsel. It's what I missed most about Christmas.

There was an older elder, the father of a good friend of ours..... He was the sweetest guy in the world, but really back-woodsey, and he had a really bad limp, so he drove to all the doors. Problem was, he didn't drive too well, and was famous for backing over people's newly planted flowerbeds and knocking down mailboxes.
Well, one day he and a young brother were in service. They knocked, but no one came to the door. So this old brother turns around and takes a leak on the nearest tree..... the younger brother is embarassed to death. Well, about this time, the householder opens the door ...... the old brother doesn't miss a beat, zips up his pants and presents the mags with a big smile on his face.... I think that everyone in town heard about that episode over the next few months!!

what happens when meetings have to be cancled due to power outages or something?
i'm not talking major things like katrina.
do they make up an extra meeting or do they just skip that one altogether?
We had to cancel a bookstudy once because of an impending storm. They did 1 1/2 bookstudies the following 2 weeks, to make it up again.

this is a new idea that i will keep it going if it generates enough interest.
some jw's, especially loyal followers who take each magazine as gospel, adjust their temperament according to the latest wt article.
it might be helpful to those of us with jw relatives or partners to access to the theme-of-the-week.
I wasn't even shooting for funny
I think I must be in a funny mood tonight...hehe
So....do you think it could be useful?
Sure! I never even look at the mags anymore, partly because they do not interest me in the least, and partly because I'm afraid if my husband should see me looking at them, he'll think I'm getting all dubby on him - Don't want that!
