freedomlovers post about her dads letter got me thinking about my dad, in fact, it sounds like it could have been written by my dad.
every once in a while it really hits me that he is no longer here to talk to.
unlike most of you, i wouldnt have been afraid to approach him with questions or doubts.

Things you said, like your dad always being willing to drop everything to take your calls, or supporting you when you decided to get married against his better judgement - that shows not only how much he loved you, but how much respect he afforded you as a person. Wow. What a beautiful thing to see.
I'm so sorry you lost him prematurely. Don't ever let go of the memories, though....

i had to share a moment from my life that came today!!
it was one of those inspiring things that hits you like a lead balloon, you know the feeling?
like good grief that is awesome, to have something that should be so obvious, but so elusive that you hadn't noticed it till now.. when i was growing up it was mentioned how family members ( not raised a jw) had needed blood and different ones gave blood and felt good about themselves for having made the effort to make the donation.
I've really wanted to donate blood since I mentally left the WT. Just the thought of being able to help people who are so desperately in need, makes me feel good.
I'm going to call them tomorrow!

I don't want my mother back. She has been mentally enslaved her whole life, now in her early 60's I see clearly that she has never know what it really means to love your children.

I don't want my mother back, either. In fact, I have 'disfellowshipped' her myself. I put up with her crap for 40 years with a smile on my face, and finally she stepped over the line and started in on my kids. Now I 'won't have her in my life anymore.

i thought i would let you know that my dad, passed away a little while ago, tonight, january 23. they called me at 6pm to tell me.
he had been failing rapidly for the past month, and had completely lost his hearing and was totally blind.
the dementia was extreme too, and he still knew me on thursday, but didn't wake up to know me in the following days.
So sorry for you and your family Mulan. Losing a father is so hard, no matter how old or ill he was.

as a bit of a newbie , i'm interested as to the overall viewpoint of site users and spectrum of views.. using a crude gauge , where 1 = completely convinced "stepford"jw ("jhs organisation is wonderful etc") and 10 is a completely rabid "tear down the tower" apostate/ex-witness pathalogically hating the whole jw structure , where do you fit in?
(apolgies to both groups - no offense intended).. i'm about 2.5 - somewhat disillusioned , keen for reforms in certain areas but broadly accepts the teachings and loves the lifestyle.

I don't believe it anymore. Not at all. I agree that everyone should be allowed to believe what they want, but in actuality, the WTS does not allow people to believe what they want. There are JWs who believe it, but there are just as many like all of us, I think, who don't believe it and don't want to be a JW anymore, but who are trapped, for whatever reason - family, friends, kids who they would lose contact with if they left.
So, I guess I'm about a 6. Or maybe a 7. No, maybe an 8... hehe .

it's really bad when you can't remember their name but they remember you.
i was a walgreen's and ran into a sister from the hall i am supposed to go to.
I never wore a badge again
I always HATED those stupid badges! I boycotted them, and even in the years I did wear one, I would NEVER wear it after the assembly like we were 'encouraged' to.

toward the end of last year, i joined bally's.
i confess that i have yet to go in 2006. but that all changes tomorrow!
back to the health club for me.. please feel free to post an exercise regimen that works for you.
Pilates.... I LOVE Pilates.
No refined foods... NONE. If I've been eating them and then remove them from my diet, I get physically sick the first week, and then I feel fantastic after that. It's almost like withdrawl symptoms... crazy!
Drink lots of water. I'll drink water with lemon juice or lime juice like someone already mentioned, it gives you some variety. Or, every time I walk in the kitchen, I fill a small glass of water and drink it then and there.
