....spelling errors on the topic headers?.

how much effort does it take to check your spelling before you post a topic??.

just read over some of the topics up for discussion right now and you'll see a very shocking (to me, at least) disregard for accuracy.. if you can't trouble yourself to get your spelling right how are the rest of us going to respect the fact you have your reasoning right either??.

I admit it..... I'm Spelling Impaired.

I know I've made spelling errors on here many times. I've tried to install different spell-check things and can't get any of them to work right on message boards.

Once upon a time, I would have been horrified if I had misspelled something I posted publicly. But for me, now, I can only get on this board when my husband is out. My kids often need (demand ) my attention. There are a million other things that also demand my time. So if I'm going to go look up every word that might be wrong, I would never post here at all.

If anyone has a good spell-check program that works on here, I'd love to hear about it!!

The Little Gentleman

for the last two weeks my youngest boy joshua has been wearing a dress shirt, pants, and a sportscoat.

i've tried putting other clothes on him, like a t-shirt and shorts, but he always changes out of them for the dress shirt and pants.

it is so cute and he knows it.

Help! - Need Work Ideas for My 13 Year Old Daughter

my daughter is getting to the age where she recognizes a need to make some summertime money.

she wants to buy a new cell phone and a few other things, and wants to earn the money herself.

i own a small business, and i would have her help me around the office but there isn't much for her to do.

How about babysitting? At your house if that makes the parents feel better? Washing cars for the neighbors? (my son and a friend did this one summer, knocked on doors offering to wash cars!) Walking dogs? Or watching pets while neighbors are away?

The regulations for what under-14-year-olds can do is very strict. Even those under 16 are limited. But as far as making money, I'd go with anything she is capable of doing that pays!

he is no longer a witness and while i'm not sure what the catalyst was they started talking about why he left the witnesses.

I don't feel angry or resentful, do you?

i'm new here (my first post yesterday: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/138721/1.ashx) and i've noticed only one thing that i don't have in common with a few people here.. i'm breaking free of my beliefs after more than thirty years and i feel great.

i feel calm, free and in control.. i feel no anger, resentment or hate towards my so-called brothers and sisters or towards the fds or the organization.

i don't see the point, it doesn't help me any.

Welcome, Orgull! Congratulations on your recovery from depression and the WTS!

I'm usually not angry or bitter, but I often feel hurt. I'm not DF'd or DA'd, but I've pretty much lost every friend I ever had and put my marriage in mortal peril by leaving the JWs. It hurts me to realize that people I considered my friends can ignore and avoid me simply because I've stopped going to meetings. I'm "bad association", apparantly.

But the freedom is something I wouldn't trade for anything! I have freedom of thought, and on JWD, I have freedom of speech, too!

The society apparently, has more than one farm.

Watchtower Farms is the one that you can tour. It's where they moved a lot of the printing facilities years ago.

Kingdom Farms (the one for sale) is different, as far as I know they haven't used the property as a farm for quite some time.

Help needed.

i always try and put a happy face on things, i am a happy person in many ways - i have a wife i love and a son on the way who i cant wait to meet but all the time something is wrong.. i suffer from depression and from time to time it gets me down and when i say down i mean down, maybe it was because i was at a really impressionable age but i became a jehovahs witness i found so much comfort in being in a giant bubble - i only appreciated some of the positive aspects of being a witness after leaving.

i was told i'd not see the end of high school cos i'd be in a paradise, that i'd be a young boy leading animals etc and the simple fact is, the thought of death itself frightens me.. i find it hard to fit in the world properly, like a square where a circle should go.

i stick out really badly in most situations, people detect always there is something 'different about me' despite my best efforts to hide it.. my coping mechanisms make me angry, frustrated and tired at the best of times and i just want to complete stage 2 of escape this cult.

I don't really have any advice but I just wanted to say that I think that making a conscious effort to become a better person and cope better in life is a wonderful thing. It says a lot about the kind of person you already are.

I was abused daily as a child

So was I... I was emotionally abused. I know that it changed who I was as a person.

However, I believe that all adults are responsible for their actions. As a very young adult out on my own, I often reacted to people and situations in a very dysfunctional way, and I hated it. I realized that when I had kids of my own, I would end up hurting them emotionally if I didn't address my dysfunctional behavior. So I created a vision for myself of how I wanted to be, and worked towards it.

I am far from perfect. I know I could be a better person if I could just get past some of the fears I carry with me from my childhood. But I've conquered a LOT of my issues. I am an adult now, and I can become whoever I want to be. If I don't like something about myself, I'll change it. If I do something stupid or hurt someone I care about, it's because I have failed to see a problem with my behavior, or have failed to do something about it.

Yeah, yeah, it's all really nice in theory. In real life, it's hard work.

Bad Day !

every now and then a day can put things into perspective.

i can be pissed because; a car driver cuts me off while riding a bike, verizon want me to pay bs charges on my phone bill, or thirdwitness is defending the watchtowers abuse policy.

but, today, my uncle fell down the stairs and shattered his skull.

I'm so sorry. It sounds like he has a fight ahead of him, but from how you described him it sounds like he's a fighter!

Are JWDers focused on the wrong reasons

a couple of weeks ago, i had a discussion with an elder's wife.

every now and then, they call on me with the literature.

they all know i'm ex-jw, but i'm nice, never da'd nor been df'd, and they think there's hope for me.

But they claim to be speaking for God. They claim to be his only channel to mankind. Yet they have made many predictions in the name of God that were wrong. They constantly change doctrines because of the failed predictions. And then they treat anyone who questions their God given authority and their doctrines with disfellowshipping and shunning.

This is the whole point, for me. One can pretty much make the bible say whatever one wants... it can support hellfire, Paradise earth, immortal soul, no immortal soul, etc. The only way for the WTS to enforce their power is to claim to speak for God, and thus anything they say is indisputable.

If you crush the FDS doctorine, the rest will come tumbling down on it's own.
