Are you a creature of habit?

i just realized that i am a creature of habit and routine.

i almost cannot function unless somethings in my life are consistently the same from one day to the next.

i have been known to eat the same thing for breakfast an lunch every day of the week.

Tactics to sway my family from the JW organization

i've been thinking lately about how i can get my family out of the organization.

my dad was once an elder (has been df'd once).

my mom was once a regular pioneer (hasn't in over 10 years and doesn't even work).

i am currently reading coc (just starting chapter 11 - point of decision).

i was also just reading on shaun's site the time magazine article (http://www.jwfiles.com/franz-article.htm) on ray franz's shunning.

i didn't realize that he and many other dissenters believe that all who belive in christ will go to heaven.

Looking for a good children's bible

i've gone non-denominational, but i haven't become a member yet.

if/when i do, i'd like to begin taking my son to church with me.

before i do that, i'd like to start my own study of the bible with him.

for those of you who will be disgusted that i even attended the meeting, let alone allow my son to give his first public talk tonight, please, spare me the shouting messages.

i take full responsibility for what i experienced this evening.

yet, i feel the need to share this experience that has me enraged.

I wasn't even my choice...should it count?

i can't help thinking that if i had never gotten baptized out of loyalty and fear of disappointing my parents (and fear of having my flesh eaten by birds of prey after being destroyed in armageddon), i would not be in this situation.

i have several family members and former friends who were raised as jws, but never got baptized, and they never have to experience the angst and pain that i have to experience.

i was baptized and never dedicated my life.

My grandmother's funeral is going to be in a church

my mother just called me to tell me the details of the funeral arrangements for my grandmother who passed last thursday evening... .

[a little background: i am df'd.

my parents, siblings and many extended relatives are jws.

My grandmother (my step-father's mother) just died tonight

this man raised me since the age of 3. i haven't called him my step-father in over 20 years.

i called to check on him this evening and to see if he needed anything.

he said that he was holding up pretty well.

unlike those of you who made the choice to drift or fade away, i was df'd a few years ago and, at the time, i thought i would return.

with the passing of time, i am realizing that going back for the sake of mending family bonds is not a good enough reason to go back.

but my family has been holding out the hope that i will return.
