Doing all those things would essentially end the organization. What would the point of the GB be? WTS has entered the mode of being self-perpetuating at all cost.

Is it possible for the WT society to ever convince us of true reform?
by james_woods ini got to thinking about this and for me anyway, they would have to come clean on at least the following things:.
an honest retraction must be made on all the ridiculous chronology (of course including the false prophecies).
by this i mean, stop this psuedo numerology stuff of adding up this or that date, adding on x many years, etc.

The reinstated people of stockholm
by stevenyc ini was scanning some jdup info and came across this little video from them, http://www.jw-media.org/vnr/2122827332/311131.htm.
it is a little interview regarding the act of disfellowshiping and reinstatement.
what i found quite interesting is the quote from a young woman who was reinstated, and its similarity to stockholm syndrome.

It's the same thing you hear from some abused women. They get beat up by their husband/boyfriend, but they'll stay with him and even insist they love him!

New Light! Invisible Armageddon!
by jstalin init is going to be announced that with all the anticipation for the coming of armageddon, we didnt notice the actual event.
thats right, it was an invisible armageddon.
if we take the 70 years of captivity, plus 1914, we get 1984. then we use the people equal hours rule and apply it to the 144,000, using division, and we get 6,000. then we use the hours equal years rule to divide 6,000 by 360 to get 16.66 additional years, add that to 1984, and we get the year 2000 for armageddon!

It is going to be announced that with all the anticipation for the coming of Armageddon, we didn’t notice the actual event. That’s right, it was an Invisible Armageddon. If we take the 70 years of captivity, plus 1914, we get 1984. Then we use the “people equal hours” rule and apply it to the 144,000, using division, and we get 6,000. Then we use the “hours equal years rule” to divide 6,000 by 360 to get 16.66 additional years, add that to 1984, and we get the year 2000 for Armageddon! That’s right, it appears as though Armageddon occurred in late July of 2000, and we didn’t see it! Jesus descended from his invisible throne, smashed all the governments in the world invisibly, and slaughtered all the unbelievers… invisibly!
It is now up to the Faithful and Discrete Slave to root out who is left. In fact, other than the True Christians, everyone else roaming all the lands of the Earth is a demon, direct from Satan the Devil! Just look around you and realize - everyone who’s not a True Christian is a demon. They will attempt to corrupt you, your children, your home and everything around you. Throw out all worldly possessions, stop talking to all the demons, and grow your own food. Jesus’ reign as king has begun. We just need to wait in our basements for the final appearance to occur. It’s just weeks away!

The Watchtower's Unbalanced View of the Internet
by VM44 inin articles concerning the internet, some of which have been titled "a balanced view of the internet", the watchtower devotes the first paragraph or two to the benefits that the internet offers and has provided.
.
then for the rest of the article they go on and on about the dangers and evils of the internet.. they have been consistent in writing in this manner in all the articles they have written concerning the internet.. can the watchtower itself truly be said to have a "balanced" view of the internet?.

PC - great post. Getting JWs to think about what they are doing is exactly what you did. Perhaps you planted a little seed that will grow over time!

How much money would you have to win, to quit your job?
by JH insome people love their jobs so much, that even if they won a couple of million $ playing lotto, they would still keep their jobs !!!
sounds stupid, right?
but i guess some have wonderful jobs, and money isn't everything.. how about you, what's the minimum you'd need to win to say, good bye boss ?
-
jstalin
The minimum I would need to quit my job would be about $2 million. I could put that in the bank and live off the interest for the rest of my life. That would leave me with just about what I make for a salary, so I wouldn't be rich by any means. I'd say that to call oneself rich, you'd need $5+ million in the bank.

Christianity, Satan & Halloween
by Nellie inforget about being a witness - i never, ever understood how mainstream christian people could justify participating in a celebration that is so overtly satanic.
while i recognize the ability to dress up in non-satanic costumes, the participation aspect bothers me.
of course, now, my kids want to trick or treat, but i just can't bring myself to say "yes.

Would god condemn you for doing something, such as participating in Halloween, when you have no evil intent in your mind or heart?
