I really don't get into the JW stuff. If religion comes up I just mention that at one point in my life I was a JW but, since I was the only person in my family that was a JW I don't mind telling them that I do all the holiday stuff with my family. However, I do think it would be easy to date an ex-JW since they might understand my position on religion.

Has anyone found dating as an EX JW difficult?
by sweetstuff injust curious as to what difficulties have faced people dating as an ex jw.
myself, i have noticed the glazed over look in a guy's eyes when you try to explain why your family doesn't celebrate the holidays with you etc.
new to this board, so if this has been well covered before, please forgive me.

As a JW were you ever counseled about clothes you wore, or lack thereof ?
by flipper inthought this could get interesting discussing experiences.
i for one was trying to reach out for ministerial servant again in the early 90's , had been one before, and was assigned to carry the microphones one meeting.
had an elder call me in the back room and say , " brother flipper, i noticed looking down towards your shoes that you are wearing white socks today.

I was told that some of my ties were too "loud" and I should look at the WT's and see what kind of ties those brothers wore.

Jehovah's Witnesses Who "Get" It
by minimus ini think there are many that understand that alot of things are bullsh*t. i think they know that the "truth" is not everything it's cracked up to be.
they recognize that many directions should simply be ignored.
just don't talk about it.

The PO at my last KH was like this. He knew it was not the Truth but he did not have a choice but to stay a JW. He would alwyas tell me "what else is there?"

Jade and LousieAlly, I became a JW so I could marry my ex-wife. I understand your situation. I went through the emotional highs and lows before I became a JW. However because a JW was the worst decision I made. If someone wants to be a JW do it for yourself and not for anybody. Being a JW and realizing it's not the "truth" will be devistating and much more if you do it just to get married. Don't do it.
