I always talked with DF people. I used the excuse that I had “business” with them. I never have approved of “shunning” and still don’t. It’s a very cruel practice.

To Current and Former Elders

it was really a post by alltimejeff on 10/1/2009 that got me thinking about this and i address a few things that he says here.
but i dont want to single him out because i really think that he is typical of many, and he did in fact apologize for his actions at the end of his post.

I reached out to be an Elder and got appointed one becasue it was the only way i could get drunk and not in trouble. I really wasn"t into it when I was appointed. I was just going along with the program.

One MS in my old Hall got caught stealing from his work. He got fired, convicted and put on probation. I remember it was about $5,000 or so. His parents paid whatever fine there was.
One “pioneer” was caught selling “copyright” t-shirts of Disney characters. He used to sell them a local “Swat Meet” to support his pioneering. Funny thing was that he had a sister in the Hall doing the art work and another brother printing the t-shirts. He paid a huge fine and was in a half-way house for about six-months.

As a young adult, I did many stupid things in my life, including becoming a JW. However, that decision only hurt myself and not others. I was ignorant and to a certain extent fooled. However, one thing I did knowing it was wrong was I drank and drove several time therefore putting others in danger. PLEASE do not drink in drive. The article below involves my friends’ granddaughter. Yes all the people are involved are JW’s but that is beside the point, when something like this hits close to home it’s a reality check. I don’t drink in drive or really drink any more. I’m not passing judgment and saying not to drink, but this was a beautiful young child that played with my kids as recently as two week ago and it such a wrong decision by the mother and driver to do this. I love my kids very much and the thought of them dieing because of my irresponsibility is unacceptable. I’ve very sad right now for my good friend and can’t even think what my kids are going to think or say when they find out.

When i was a young servent doing the accounts i questioned a CO about his "invoice" once and the PO ripped me a new one. Soon after i was told to add a couple couple of hundred buck to the CO bill for "incidentals"

What Were Some Stupid Rules In Your Hall?

In my old Hall, if you went to clean the Hall on Saturday you could not wear shorts or t-shirts with any logo. I wore an In-N-Out t-shirt (hamburger joint) and they made me turn it inside out.
Sisters in the Hall would get a hard time if they put highlights in thier hair.

We had 2 elders that liked going to Strip Clubs. I had an ideal but it wasn"t until i saw them, by accident that it was confirmed. I didn't say anything, just laughted. One of the edlers got caught by his wife but he did not rat out his buddy, who was on his "committee'. he got a slap on the wrist and after three years (i believe) was an Elder again.

I always put 12-15 hours per month when it was only about 5-8. I'd show up for field service and after the field service meeting i'd goof around for about an hour before knocking on a few doors, then kill time drinking coffee....i mean RV's!!!! When i first become a Dub, i was honest though.

Please be patient and don’t do anything dumb. I know what you are going through. My wife and I broke up last year and she was my first love. I had every crazy feeling but you will get though it!!!
