  Question about the distribution of Bethelites:

  i am not a jw, so i don't know very much about some of these things.

  recently a jw friend of mine called to invite me to the kh for a "talk" that a visiting speaker was giving.

  she went on to say how they were down-sizing at bethel, due to equipment that is able to do the work, so they don't need as much man-power.

  Ask if she was aware that the WTBS recently sold a building in Brooklyn for $200Million? (360 Furman it was in all the Bklyn papers so you don't have to mention "Apostate" sites)

  Now ask her (and use these these exact words because she hears them every Sunday) "Doesn't it seem reasonable that a wealthy employer should make some sort of arrangements for their valued and aged employees before casting them from their home"?

  Maybe one of you Dubz can remember WTBS quotes about the "reasonableness" of the OT Israeli slave arrangement to add to this.

  Did John Denver hate Jehovah's Witnesses?

  my mother once told me a story of how john denver supposedly hated jehovah's witnesses more then life itself.

  my legend, these are two examples i heard while in the witnesses .... 1. at a john denver concert, he once asked all jehovah's witnesses in the audience to leave.. 2. johnny carson once asked him if he did this, and when he said he did, johnny carson asked him to leave the show in rehearsal and re-booked someone else.. ... awhile back i started looking on the internet for information on this and could not see any proof of this and wondered if anyone ever heard this before or was it just something that was in our area.

  i have a feeling it is something others heard of.

  This is an odd example of a Witness at my door, any one heard of this?

  about two weeks ago i was in the front yard on a saturday and washing one of the cars.

  i looked down the street and saw two woman in dresses walking from house to house, with a young child in a suit.

  of course, i knew they were witnesses and i knew they would be at my door soon.

  They are in the ASL congo. Technically they are not permitted to witness outside their congo and can only use the language of the congo.

  Seems really stupid but that's how they develop territory lists. Do the same thing for Spanish etc. For instance a spanish language congo member can only approach "obviously hispanic looking" people at Wal-Mart.

  This Past Sunday My Wife Took Me To The Elders!

  early sunday morning, around 1:30 a.m., my wife wakes me and says that she can't sleep and needs to talk with me.

  i say ok and she proceeds to tell me that she wants a seperation.

  i was hurt, but not shocked, because our relationship is not that close at this point after 14 yrs of marriage.

  The thing that really stinks is that he'll have two janitors and a window washer serving as his "counselors." Believe what you want about their qualifications, the fact is that 99.7% of the US public views them as I do.

  At least drag wifey to someone who is trained in MENDING marriages rather than one who can only order her to follow scripture.

  yesterday morning was my bookstudy.

  but i had a runway show to do that night (i think i have mentioned before that i have been pursuing modeling) and so of course i had to skip out.

  my parents go to a differ bookstudy than me but in the same hall and so they were able to notice that i was not there.

  But you're a GUY! Its so much easier for ya'll. If I end up on the streets I have to worry about being raped and stuff. Its so much scarier for us.

  THe WTBS teaches that EVERYONE is in danger from taking one in the back from those awful worldly folk.

  Quit the drama and look on roommates.com. You should be able to get something clean near your job for a whole lot less than you think. As far as transportation goes you should be able to find somthing on the bus line until your old driving sins go away.

  NEVER EVER move in with someone out of desperation. It makes you look well, bad.

  peak oil?

  i know we have some intelligent people here, so i thought i might ask what you think about 'peak oil'.

  i became familiar with the concept after watching a video a year and a half ago called "the end of suburbia".

  it was strange at the time because i remembered reading a 2003 awake!

  You guys better hope we are not past population carrying capacity because we are going to have between 3 and 6 more BILLION human mouths on the planet by 2050.

  NINE FARKING BILLION and that is the best estimate which includes drastic measures that noone is attempting to implement.

  Of course we're all going to die well before then when the ocean conveyer heat pump stops functioning.

  First "summer" electric bill of the year.... HOLY CRAP!!!

  as an apartment dweller i'm used to an electric bill that is about $80 to $100 per month... but with the summer heat my bill just jumped to $180!

  I feel for you. I owned a 6K plus sq ft home in Houston before moving to FL.

  One night in July I was home and turned on the Weather Channel at 10PM or so.

  102 degrees. That was the summer I had to replace both central air conditioners because they would just shut off periodically. The Mfr claimed they "weren't designed for such heat"

  I was paying about $400 per month 4 years ago, but that was before the price of oil doubled. If you think you got it bad, I guarantee people up North are going to die this winter when they can't pay the heating oil bill.

  "Uh-Huh" is Not "You're Welcome"

  last weekend my son told me about the the training he is getting for his new job.

  he said that he is required to watch customer service videos, and in one of the videos there was a segment that told people to say, "you're welcome," and not, "uh-huh.".

  this made me realize just how bad mannered some people have become, especially in the customer service realm.

  i realise that there are many reasons for people leaving the org and some are very sensitive and difficult to discuss.

  but i was wondering how many people, if they really think about it, were finally broken by the sheer workload as a jw.

  someone replied to my thread yesterday (page 2), and discussed the average week for most jw`s.

  Hey Brutus!

  How different they are regarding their attitude towards children than what Jesus Christ taught.

  I really feel bad for the Moms who are ordered to BRING their children to all the meetings and are then excluded from the meetings because of it.

  Have you ever noticed that only the MOMS are scolded because they cannot keep the children quiet? That's because the DADS are expected to have responsibilities in the congo. If you don't, then they have no idea what to make of you.
