i can't read every post about how all you x jw's went to the memorial.

and i don't know how many here still think they are christians?

but i interested to know if anyone did the christian thing and followed the commandment of jesus.

I did. The wife yelled at me afterwards until I told her that I felt as one with Jehovah and heard his instructions to announce my anointment.

in 1975 i distinctly remember it being said in our congregation with an air of near certainty - i was 13.. now, over 30 years later for just the 3rd time in my life i'm not going and next year will make it the 4th.. that's unless this really is the last one this time!.

this statement was often echeod to me during my formative years.

i remember my very first day of elementary school (stateside) at the age of 4. my parents were flustered because they couldn't believe they actually had to start their only child into public school to begin with; after all, the end was right around the corner!

this was 1984, the year the first apple mac was introduced, 80's music was loud and in your face, the delorean was cool, and miami vice was just in production.

Where does it say don't research "old light"?

i can normally do my own research, but someone has challenged me on this and i can't find anything in writing to confirm that jws are discouraged to research older light.

Could they change the 1914 doctrine this way?

a friend and i were discussing the possible means by which the wts could drop 1914, the last remaining significant prophetic flop-date to which they cling.

i believe they will feel compelled to do so, and i believe they will do so within the next 5 years.

they tend to drop significant prophecies before crucial anniversaries that make them a clear laughingstock.

1914 was an important year for another reason. Armageddon was supposed to happen in October of that year. When it did not it was changed to the invisible coming. Check "Herald" 2/1915 for the apology.

Is the JW Memorial ONLY about Jesus?

i think it's more of a ploy to get inactive, disfellowshipped, and newbies to the hall.. it has nothing * it has much more to do than this one event.. .

But Jesus got left out of it in 1934 or so:

"Those who are his followers should participate not only in feeding upon him..not only partaking of the merit of his blood, his sacrifice but in laying down their lives in service of him....How precious these are to those who rightly in tune with the Lord" CTR "Herald" 1915. In otherwords EVERYONE who loves Jesus partakes.

Then in 1934:Witnesses are first admonished to NOT participate in accepting communion unless they are "proclaiming the message of God in connection with the plagues". Now we have the first admonisment that the emblems are not for all Christians and that there are "levels" of Christianity. This will be fine-tuned late.

So what happens to all those who mistakemly partook following the sage advice of "Pastor" CTR? Are they doomed?

Suck it Bethel. To claim that it's even the same religion that it was in 1915 "when God selected it as his representive on earth" is enough to make one laugh. 180 degree doctrinal reversals are par for the course.

im considering going to this years memorial.

ive only been once, however this was years ago and i cant remember everything i have a few questions.

do they read from a bible during the service?
