  Hi Mrsjg, I'm pretty new too, have read here for quite some time but just started posting, am new to the turth, have been studying and attending meetings almost two years. Coming here helps reinforce my faith and also helps me understand more about the Bible and the organization.

  It's good to continue researching and learning, I'd only caution you to do so objectively. You'll hear many opinions and experiences, try not to let them influence what you feel and believe to be true and important. First and foremost, talk to your husband and pray to Jehovah, even (or especially) if there are things that disturb or confuse you, I think that honesty is vital to your relationship with Jehovah and with your family.

  Find out if there's a qualified brother or sister in your congregation who can discuss and help you with your confusion about the blood issue, that's who helped me with it.

  My Scan Results

  as many of you will know, yesterday i received my scan results from the haematologist.

  when i entered his office he was beaming and so i thought the news would be good.

  the chemotherapy has shrunk the cancerous lymph nodes in my stomach substantially!!

  Tonsil Cancer?

  well i thought i knew a lot but my x son in law has just been diagnosed with cancer of the tonsils!

  they are telling him it is caused by smoking(no surprise here) and drinking!

  he does smoke but has quit for years at a time and then gone back.

  I think any healthy food, drink or habit can help in preventing cancer, but there just are no guarantees.

  It's important to recognize,though, that knowing the cause isn't going to help the cure. Carrying unnecessary burdens and guilt hinder the treatment by fostering negative thoughts.

  And it's most vital to understand that cancer is not God's fault, nor is it His punishment for anyone.

  Try not to pay attention to that. So many factors can be the cause of cancer, they're not qualified to make definitive statements about causes to patients. A doc once told me that my ovarian cancer was God's punishment because I chose not to have children. It's the kind of stuff that accomplishes nothing except making those docs feel important, and it gets in the way of the healing.

  The cause doesn't matter at this point, the important thing is that he does everything possible to beat it. Determination and a positive attitude, free from guilt about the cause, is vital to healing. Learn everything you can about the treatments and support him in every way possible. I wish him good health!

  They also blamed anti-perspirants for breast cancer . . . . . .

  HappyDad, You'll like delivering flowers, it is a fun job, I work on the other side, making the flower arrangements . We make others very happy well, except when it's a funeral, but it does give others comfort. My busiest days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, then I get to not work on the days everyone else is busy. So I have the roads and stores to myself, no crowds! Hope you get the job!!

  I'd been enthusiastically studying, attending meetings regularly, then had some incidents that left me feeling pressured and confused for a number of reasons.

  Next time they came over I looked them in the eyes and said to please not come back. One took my hand and said something like, ok, when you're ready let us know, we'll be here for you. They've never been back. I didn't think so at the time, but you all have me wondering ... was it strange for them to react that way? Do they bother only people who are baptized or fully accepted in the organization?

  I believe humans are the cause - motives like greed, selfishness, control, power - and they use religion as the justification for conflict to gain what they want.

  ----------------- that when i was going to 5 meetings a week, 20 hours service a month (im not boasting, well maybe i am a bit ) it was all so boring but now..............i spend hours on this forum, talking about stuff that used to make me groan why ????????

  Getting back to the original question...meeting attendance and service hours... for me it's a matter of time management. My responsibilities at home and work simply don't allow for me to attend meetings three nights and Sunday plus time in the field. I manage the family home, caring for elderly parents who live here (one of whom is very ill and requires full time care) and own a small business to help support all that. The elders and congregation (who follow the elders' direction) say I'm placing family and business above God, but I disagree. Jehovah is with me wherever I am, and if it's a question of my mom getting care or my attending a meeting, mom gets the attention. Here at home I can grab intervals of ten minutes or so online or reading, studying, learning and teaching, at work I talk to people. I believe that carrying Jehovah's words all the time and practicing Jesus' teachings in daily life, are more substantial than fulfilling a required number of hours or public appearances while neglecting my family's needs. I do attend meetings when the schedule permits, but am told it must be all or nothing. I'm trusting that Jehovah understands the concept of multi-tasking and practicality.

  Seriously, defd, have you prayed about this? I think there are many good suggestions here to RELIEVE the EFFECTS of the stress you're feeling. To truly DEAL with the the stress, though, I believe you need to seek strength and guidance from Jehovah.

  A friend who will listen to your concerns without being judgemental can help you assess the situation and validate your feelings. But if it is indeed something out of your control, and you feel it's going to get worse, and you can't change it, turn to Jehovah for HOPE... and then look deep into yourself and to Him for His answers.

  I hope you will find some comfort.
