I think if Jesus was to come down from heaven right now and tell JW's to STOP LISTENING TO THE SOCIETY, STOP GOING TO THE MEETINGS, I DON'T NEED YOUR FREAKIN 10 HOURS PER MONTH! They'd just blink really fast and open up the latest issue of the WT magazine and proceed with this month's suggested presentation.

Why stay married to a JW?
by kid-A inhaving read a recent thread on "mixed" marriages between active jws and non-jw (either faders or df'd) two things stood out for me.
first, there was a profound underlying sadness on the part of the non-jw poster (as there may also be on the active jw mates part) on the reduced intimacy of the relationship, both mentally and physically.
not being in this situation, but understanding what makes a marriage successful, i cant help but ask a rather harsh question....can anybody in this situation realistically envision how such a marriage can last in the long term?.

No way can it survive. There is an elder in my hall whose wife is an "unvbeliever" He talks about her all the time in his talks. Honestly! Always makes these really personal "examples" of like an unbeliever who does not want the child to go out in service so much or is feeling lonely on a sunday morning- I'm always like "where does he get this stuff from" and he always mentions her in service. I know he's miserable. Sh'e probbably worse. How sad.

Disgusting. When I was 17 and saw the Dateline special I was terrified that something like that could happen to me and no one would believe me. All my friends who saw the special only talked about how much "shame" the girls who were interviewed put on Jah's name. And I'm sitting there watching Connie Chung switch to cormercial break and I'm scared out of my mind screaming to God to let me out of this cult one day; safe and sound.And the screams just don't stop. Sometimes I just can't bear.

then he used what happend in the superdome during hurricane katrina to bring this point home and even pointed out many brothers did not follow this counsel and as a result had to suffer in the superdome with all that was going on.

Is this true? The WT frowns on using public shelters during emergencies? When I lived in Fla me and my family went to my school for shelter (the KH was used as a shelter also) I've never heard such a thing. Why are they trying to control everything!!! I am getting really irritated with the damn Society. I think they are all really deranged!

i saw the movie and u are absolutely right. in the beggining his motives seemed justified. i was wondering why batman was so against it. but didn't he just wanna kill all the corrupt. no actually he wanted to just clean out the entire city period and start off fresh. yeah, it is the same concept. interesting

too stupid for words
by peacefulpete inok this is one for the books, my wife's great grandmother who is a miraculous 94 year old cervical and ovarian cancer survivor and a 87 year old man from the hall were just counselled on the need for a chaperon!
it seems someone was disturbed that the two were alone in her appartment!
she is practically housebound and his visits to shoot the breeze and talk about the old times were the highlight of her week.

That is pretty sick. My guess is in the next couple years they will counsel against those of the same sex to be in rooms to gethor alone.
Me and a friend of mine used to be real affectionate with each other. she was like a sister. I remeber one time we had a pic of us with her giving me a peck on the lips and an elder insisted we put the picture away (its was after the meeting one night) What a dirtbag!
