I'm sorry they are giving you so much grief. You are right. It is impossible to leave without drama, fanfare, and your reputation being ruined. I hope you stay out for your daughter's sake. I think it will be important for her to see another possible path in life besides the Watchtower.

But where else should we go? Can you answer this question?
by purrpurr inhaving watched many jc youtube videos one question that gets asked is "where else would you go?".
in other words if not jehovah's witnesses then what other religion or organisation would you go to?.
it's one that i have trouble answering, what would you say?.

Why do we have to GO anywhere?
The JWs act like they have the answers to all of life's problems, yet take no responsibility for creating so many problems for their adherents.
If we learn to start enjoying life, and getting involved in the community around us ... yes the same community that the JWs claim are so evil ... you will start to realize there is no where to "go" but here ... and here is wherever you are!

Bunker Video: Why No Concluding Scene?
by Wild_Thing ini was wondering why they ended the "bunker video" as they did ... with an armed militia finding the jws huddled in the corner of the basement ... fade to black.
the jws watching don't know what happened after that.
did they kill them?

I was wondering why they ended the "Bunker Video" as they did ... with an armed militia finding the JWs huddled in the corner of the basement ... fade to black. The JWs watching don't know what happened after that. Did they kill them? Did they haul them off to jail? Or take them to a concentration camp?
I think the ending they chose was well thought out and intentional. It is such a cruel psychological game. They ended the story at the height of the "fear" felt by the viewers. It abandons the viewer in the "fight or flight" mode. When a person is in the fight or flight mode, he instinctively perceives anything in their world as a threat to their survival. Fear becomes the lens through with you see everything in the world. When you are stuck in that state, it is hard to think critically. I think we will see quite an uptick in JW paranoia in the coming months following the summer conventions, and probably a rise in ones wanting to get out, but too paralyzed by fear to do anything about it.

Watchtower Bible & Tract Society: Pretending to Be Alive?
by David_Jay inaccording to market analysis, the e-book market has taken a dip in 2015. because companies that publish e-books can (and do) monitor the use of the e-books materials they release, not only their sales but the individual e-book’s use gets tracked.
companies like amazon and kobo as well as nielsen book research in the uk all report that while the format remains popular, sales have dipped more than a quarter last year in some places like britain, and that hard copies of books still are preferred.. amazon (u.s.a.) sales figures give an example of how things are working on the world scene.
for instance non-fiction hard copy printed books sales (including religion) made up a healthy 42% of their purchased books in 2015. in the same category, however, e-books made up only 6% of the sales.. kobo monitored its e-book sales and found that 60% of the electronic versions never even got opened.

There seems to be a movement that has formed the last few years that push hard copy books over digital books. I can't tell you how many people in this camp have said things like "You just can't replace the feel of holding a book" to support their stance that physical books are better than ebooks. Primarily, they are people in at least their forties that might be resistant to change.
I think the push to go back to hardback books is a fad. I think ebooks will still become more of the norm eventually, but hardcopy books will never go away, either. But I do think hardcopy books will primarily be bought for kids, or for books that you want to keep forever, like a bible.
I think the fact that we see less and less of the Watchtower printing literature just follows the trend we see anywhere. Even in public schools in America, there is a push in schools for digital textbooks to replace hard copies, and that has already happened in a lot of districts. At the same time, I absolutely believe the Watchtower is going to digital literature because of money. Since when has the Watchtower EVER embraced a new technology and changed with the trends of the world? Never. The only motivation left is to save money.

Simon: What happens when you can no longer support this site?
by StephaneLaliberte inhey simon, .
the recent closure of jwr made me realize that this site may not be eternal as well.
a great deal of people attach a lot of importance to xjw communities and yours is the best.

What is the official stance on shunning family that "faded"?
by Wild_Thing indoes anybody have any quotes from watchtower literature or video that shows what their stance is on associating with family who have left the witnesses?
or even what the unofficial stance is?.
not disfellowshipped or officially disassociated, just "inactive" for say 15-20 years, but also openly living a "worldly" life birthdays, holidays, including attending another church?

Blondie, do you know of anything that they have published in print that says anything to that effect? That is exactly how it is, but I am in desperate need of hard core proof. I can share more later, but not right now.

Do JWs still leave literature in the door?
by Wild_Thing ini came home to a watchtower in my door.
i thought i had heard a while back that they had stopped putting literature in doors except for tracts whenever they had one of their campaigns.
why am i so special?.

Yes! Two! They usually hide in my pocket. I know they should come out and greet the JWs more often!
