It was such a missed opportunity to call him out. All he would have had to say is, "Can you provide some specific examples of what the Governing Body has apologized for in the past?" I would love to hear his answer.

Has the Governing Body EVER apologized for anything?
by Wild_Thing ingeoffrey jackson testified to the arc that the governing body has apologized for things in the past, so an apology to sexual abuse victims is "perceivable".
what has the governing body ever apologized for?.
22 q. just on that point, mr jackson, has the governing body23 considered apologising to survivors of child sexual abuse24 at the hands of elders within the organisation?25 a. i haven't been in any discussions with regard to that.26 27 q. is that something that you foresee might happen ‐ in 28 other words, that an apology at least be considered?29 a. the governing body has apologised on other matters, so30 for me to say ‐ i can't speak collectively for everybody, 31 but we have apologised on things in the past, in other32 areas, so it is perceivable.. .

Welcome to all the newbies and lurkers that have joined this forum lately.
by smiddy3 ini`m sure you have all noticed the ever increasing number of newbies and lurkers who have visited this site over the past months and i am sure we could all collectively welcome them to this site and support them on learning the ttatt .
and helping them to navigate how they can look up older publications and quotes of the wtb&ts that they would rather remain hidden.. we all know jehovah`s witnesses /governing body never apologizes for mistakes they make they just don`t mention them anymore and explain it away as new light from god.. actually a big cop out.. welcome to all you who are new to this site .. every day their seems to be someone new posting which is great .. and if this is any indication of what is happening in all other ex jw sites the wtb&ts are in deep trouble .

Welcome lurkers and newbies! If you want to read more about the early years of the Watchtower, newspaper archives are a great place to start. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle covered the ever growing Russelites/International Bible Students/Watchtower movement as it continued to grow in Brooklyn in the early years.
You can view the clippings I have found here: https://bklyn.newspapers.com/profile/Wild_Thing/clippings/1 or search on your own.
Here is one interesting article from 1909. It is about when Russel first moved the Watchtower Headquarters from the Pittsburgh area to Brooklyn. https://bklyn.newspapers.com/clip/15945460/divorced_pastor_here_opens_new/

9 days to go
by Jrjw in9 days to go until i hand my d'a letter in.
its extremely short, as in one sentence long.
i'm not giving them a reason coz i don't need to coz it's my life and my choice and i don't have to answer to the boe or gb.

Congrats, Jrjw! I did the same and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!
It always irritates me when I see people post about writing their DA letter and then others discourage them from doing so, claiming you're playing by their rules. I lived under that premise for many years before I finally wrote mine and sent it in.
I did so for two reasons: 1) I primary wrote the letter for me, and not them. It was very cathartic putting in into words. 2) Yes, I did play into their "rules". Under their rules, I was still a JW, but just an inactive, lost sheep that needed saving again. And this delusional thinking of theirs was impacting my life ... a lot. So, my letter made sure everybody involved was on the same page, regardless of whatever rule book they were going by.

Bucket list
by Jrjw indoes anyone have a bucket list and has it helped you achieve anything?
someone said i should do one.
-
Wild_Thing
A "bucket list" is just a pop culture term for setting goals you want to accomplish before you die. Setting goals is always good.
I do have a bucket list. I wrote in the notes section of my Facebook page and made it private and only viewable to me. Every once in a while I will go look at it. I might add some more, take some off that don't seem important anymore, and check some off my list, if I'm lucky. :)
Make sure you put some low cost or free things on your bucket list. That way, you have no excuse to start tackling it!

How do you deal with "toppers"? [one upmanship]
by compound complex inwhen in conversion, you sometimes get carried away and the talk becomes all about you.. then, you remember you're in a conversation, say you're sorry, and allow the other person to talk.
she goes on about what's happening in her life, you listen and ask some questions.
she tells you more and then shifts the dialogue back to you.

I have someone close to me that does that. We all, as humans, tend to be a bit egocentric. But yes, some take it to an all new level. I had to make a hard decision. Is it deal breaker in our relationship? Or is it something I was just going to have to accept and understand the limits of our relationship. I chose the latter. It makes me sad sometimes, but I had to come to realize that that person is not someone who I can share things with and expect her to listen. I have to have other people in my life for that. It's sad, but it's my reality.

I just can't get past the teaser video I watched! I can't stop giggling at what made them decide these videos are necessary. Was the laundry department getting just loads of crusty socks (or pillowcases) or what??? LOL
