JW.ORG to be the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14
by donuthole inthe organization is shifting away from printed literature in favor of their new jw.org website.
the website contains content that is not printed in literature.
kiosks, trolleys, and storefronts are being used to showcase the website.

Good point, Blondie. I think the push for digital content will be mostly implemented in the developed countries, and they will still use printed literature for the 3rd world countries.
I think the reason they are shifting to more digital content is not just to save money. I think someone up there got smart and realized they needed to do something to appeal to the younger generation of Witnesses. For almost 40 years, kids have been entranced with digitial or electronic content, and they are just now starting to take advantage of it. (A bit late, I might add.) They are bleeding members in the developed countries. Kids raised in the troof are leaving! I think this is their latest attempt to plug the hole. It won't work.

This board has changed a lot since you were here, and honestly, I feel it is for the better. A lot of the former posters had great insight and contributed A LOT of information we surely would not have had without them (yes, including you.) But many have moved on, some stomped out after a lot of drama, and sadly some have passed away or are in poor health.
But, things need to evolve and change. The reason that I was drawn back to this website recently is because I noticed the drama, fighting, and angry, hate rethoric have diminished A LOT. We all have reasons to be angry at the Watchtower Society, but I am not of the mindset that (1) they should be taken down, or (2) I am the one to do it. They are a religion. Are there aspects of the JWs that are cultish? Yes! But, really, they are JUST ANOTHER DESTRUCTIVE RELIGION. Nothing special. Not like they think they are. If you compare them to other crazy religions, the JWs definitely win, but not by much. I think exposing that is what is what will be most damaging to them.
Their lies and destructive ways should definitely be exposed, but your methods seem a bit too extreme ... calling the Elders rapists, telling us you're going to clean out this temple, implying we're not apostate enough for you. Your kinds of posts are exactly the kind that scare people away and back to the Kingdom Hall. I'm guessing this is the opposite of your intent.
I tip my hat to you for your contributions in the past, but it stops there. I am guessing you are back to help revive Hourglass2? I notice it is trying to make a comeback. It that's the case, just say it! I don't mind if you give them a plug. But copying and pasting URLs to their threads for us to read is going to get real old, real quick.
Come to think of it, copying and pasting URLs to old posts here on this board is going to get real old, real quick, too. There is definitely good stuff there to find, but too much of it is a bit off-putting. Let's see if you can contribute without referring us to threads that are more than 10 years old, OR by reviving them.

Documentary: God Loves Uganda
by Wild_Thing inhas anyone seen the film called god loves uganda?
i just watched it on netflix, and i highly recommend it!
it's a recent documentary that premiered at the sundance film festival last year.. it shows how the american evangelical right wing christian groups has changed the face of uganda by sending missionaries there, setting up churches, and indoctrinating ugandans with their brand of christianity.

Definitely! I am breaking out my picket signs right now!
PANCAKES, NOT PRAYERS! PANCAKES, NOT PRAYERS!
But seriously, I blame them for the gays in Uganda being either murdered or imprisoned, and the hate and intolerance of anyone different here in the U.S.
I still would like to know what the JW position on Uganda having laws that support imprisoning and murdering gays. I know they have a presence over there. They have a Watchtower Uganda branch. Are they openly against it? For it? Or do they say they can't have a position because they are politically neutral?

Coming soon to a District Convention near you, it's the Aposto-Blimp!
by Skimmer incoming soon to a district convention near you, it's the aposto-blimp!.
be on the lookout for the latest technology for telling the truth about the truth: a five meter long, helium filled blimp which will cruise about the hapless fools at a district convention.
made from tear-resistant mylar with propellors powered by lightweight lithium power cells, the blimp will be guided by a small computer with gps assistance and will follow its flight path in and around the stadium for hours at a time.

Good point, rebel8! Althought, I have always attributed ANY growth in the U.S. to the JWs procreating and having more little JWs.
Preventing people from becoming JWs really needs to happen in the third world foreign countries where the JW growth is most pervasive. I'm not sure how to accomplish that, but I am pretty sure a penis shaped blimp is not going to do it.

How We Come Across On The Board
by minimus inmost people here have never met you.
we converse, discuss, argue, laugh, agree, question, share our lives..... quite often, you kind of get to know what a person is like.
some people, we tend to gravitate to and others, we shy away from.. how do you think you come across to other people?

jgnat ... Those would definitely be interesting people to meet in real life! I have also always wanted to meet minimus, even way back when I first started coming here. I bet he's quite a nice man. I never see him get wrapped up with the trolls and drama that sometimes frequent this place.

This IHOP is much more sinister.
Incidentally, the pancake IHOP sued the prayer IHOP for trademark in fringment for using the same initials. They said they were afraid people would confuse prayers for pancakes. (I can understand how the two could be quite confusing!) They dropped the suit, but didn't really say why.
There was a family I know visiting from Alabama once and every time I met up with them, their daughter (in her 20s) was not there. When I asked them where she was, they would say, "She went to IHOP." After I met up with them several times and being told the same thing, I finally said, "Man! That girl must love pancakes!" They had a good laugh and told me that she went to the 24 hour International House of Prayer IHOP. That was the first I had ever heard of them. They weren't too happy she was going.
They are quite Fundy! Which makes them Scary. And Dangerous. I think they are preying on Uganda, just like the JWs prey on third world countries.

shepherding call
by DesirousOfChange inyou don't say why you are inactive.. if you can control your tongue and not blurt out anything you have learned about ttatt, then perhaps no harm in agreeing to a visit if you feel the need to be polite and cooperative.
no doubt, they will inquire as to why you are inactive.. don't you know it's the truth(tm)?.
don't you know the end(tm) is close?.

I would continue to try to evade them until the CO and DO leave. My guess is the locals will lay off after they're gone.
