From the platform I once used a translation of the Bible in American Black English/Ebonics for the "down home" effect, and one of the old white sisters was very upset, saying that it was irreverent. Next time the CO visited and I was speaking to him after the meeting, she marched up, interrupted us, and "turned me in." The CO asked, "Well, what was the passage?" I repeated it from memory, and the old sister agreed. The CO then said how much he liked it, how he thought it got the point. The sister was quite angry at us both and went off very disappointed. The the CO and I then went back to our conversation. I was very fortunate to have had several genuinely loving, liberal COs.

by JW_Rogue inhas anyone else noticed that in the wt study articles the main point they want you to remember is always somewhere around paragraph 11-14?
it's like a formula.
intro and overview paragraphs 1-4. basic wt stuff 5-8 (not controversial).

you used to have the make sure of all things hold fast to what is fine book what is the modern equivalent of this book i need a book which lists the bible topics and where to actually find them in the bible can somebody give me a pointer?.

Given the current climate in the WTS of printing in the main merely tracts, tiny magazines that are only a shadow of what they used to be, no bound books outside of the Bible itself and the one catechismal book used for conversion, their emphasis on electronic media, and their extreme de-emphasis on any kind of real Bible study, the chance of them printing anything like the old Make Sure of All Things book (1965) or its replacement, Reasoning from the Scriptures (1985), is zero.
Perhaps you could download a copy of the latter from the official JW website onto your smartphone. That would be closest thing. Don't count on any more hardback books, or even paperback ones from the WTS any more.

Banned words in the organization
by Addison0998 ini was talking to my sister in law the other day about death, and i mentioned something about the afterlife, i don’t remember what i said but it was nothing shocking .
but she squealed, “we don’t believe in the afterlife!
!” and i reasoned, well we kinda do...life after death is the after life..and she just insisted no no it’s not the same thing.

It might be fun to watch her reaction, esp. if you portray it as her disagreeing with the org...
Maybe some day they'll change it, like they did with the word religion (1951, I think).
Grace is always undeserved kindness. They work very hard to separate themselves from the churches in general, including in vocabulary. But there are plenty of exceptions: Bible, holy scriptures, Hebrew Bible, progressive revelation, original sin, the inerrant Word of God. You might have some fun with your SIL and these topics.
