  many opponents of the wtbts have published information saying that the wts forbade organ transplants, and the reason given was that the wts said it was equal to cannibalism.

  JWs make their decisions based on what the society tells them. Obedience is expected and enforced. My father died because he obeyed them, and they are accountable. before God. You can try to ignore that fact if you want to, but that doesn't make you balanced. It just means you are creative in your denial.

  My father was a well known elder and an extremely intelligent man. (He was an architect and engineer who had been asked to participate in the Manhattan Project and turned it down because he was a JW). His IQ was off the charts. Yet he believed what the society told him regarding transplants and it cost him his life. You cannot dismiss the society's accountability so easily. If they hadn't taken the position they did, and published it, then and only then would it have been a decision for the conscience of the individual.

  The crazy part of this is that I stayed in for more than 10 years after this. It is not the reason I left. It was one piece of evidence in a long list that proves that they are not who they claim to be.

  and....How do you think I felt when the article came out making it a matter of conscience? I was still dealing with the loss of my dad....and realizing that it had not been necessary.

  My dad died because of this policy in 1978. My parents did all the research and concluded that it was forbidden by the society. My dad was an elder of many years. I'm not going to argue as to what the society said about it. This was a real life situation and the result speaks for itself.

  Jesus didn't come to set up an organization. There was already one in place, and His followers were considered apostates from that organization. He came to give each and every one the ability to have a one on one relationship with God....through Him.

  It's not about religion, but a relationship. When you stand before your maker you will stand as an individual, not a group. No hiding behind the skirts of any organization. If you have Christ, He stands with you, and you are not alone. It is His sacrifice that covers you. It is through Him that you have salvation. No organization can give that to you, and no organization can take that away from you.

  Following men gets you nowhere. They don't have all the answers, and even if they did it wouldn't matter. God isn't going to give you a pop quiz to determine if you have salvation. He isn't impressed by what we know or think we know.

  There are no more people who are of above average intelligence within the organization than in the general population. It's the big fish in the little pond scenario. You just notice the smart ones more. I've known a number of very intelligent JWs...but the ones with common sense, who have the ability to think for themselves, usually leave. Your average witness doesn't have an above average iq.

  i get the impression that a lot of the industrial countries really dont give a sh*t. recently there seems to be a lot of people saying man has nothing to do with it.

  or, that its really not that bad.

  govenrnments dont seem to care too greatly either, i'm thinking of australia and the usa at the moment.

  Hi Guys,

  The company I work for is a member of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) I teach architects about our products, and one of the classes I teach is on Green Building. One of the building materials we use is wood. The industry does an excellent job of managing this resource. In 2001 growth exceeded harvest by 36% in the US. That is much better than in 1952, where growth was not much greater than harvest. The problem lies in cutting down hard wood trees. They take much longer to grow....in many cases over 100 years. We use only pine, which has a 20 year growth cycle. The idea that we are stripping our forests is unfounded. and completely inaccurate. We manage forest growth extremely well. We have to.

  The use of wood in building materials is much healthier for the environment because the production process does not emit harmfull chemicals into the atmosphere as other building products do....

  Wood is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable....the only building material in use today that is all three..

  The earth has been going through cycles long before man arrived on the scene. Species became extinct long before man enterred the picture. One erruption from a super volcano effects the earth more in one day than 100 years of emmissions produced by man. We simply do not have that level of impact. We think we are the center of the universe, but we are not. Nature is far more powerful than we are, and is ultimately in control.

  Yes we need new sources of energy. Most experts agree that we have a 50 year + or - supply left if we keep using at the same rate. That's not a lot, but not cause for panic.

  Amazingly, the Church of Scientology won the "Cult Awareness Network" a number of years ago when they sued because CAN identified them as a cult. As a settlement, they got the only asset that CAN held..its' name. So, when someone calls the Cult Awareness Network for info on cults or direction to counseling, they are talking to a Scientologist..... Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing!!!!!!
