  thinking positively - what is the best thing that happened to you or ...

  that you accomplished in the last 24 hours?.

  i ask becase i just keep reading lots of gripey posts (with good reason for sure, but i wanted to hear positive stuff no matter how mediocre or ordinary it might sound).. so tell me what was your highspot?

  My son called. He just moved from Florida to Virginia... (his girlfriend is from Virginia.) He got there last Tuesday, and had a job interview on Friday. He got the job...Junior Project Manager for a commercial Construction Co. They hired him on the spot....starting at $50,000. a year.and there are bonuses too! He is soooo psyched! He's only 24! He has 3 more semesters before he has his degree in Computer Science, and they are going to be flexible so he can finish his degree.

  Here's the kicker... he told me last night that during the negotiations, they offered him more than that...and he said he would rather they start him at the lower end of their budget because he wanted his salary to be performance based, and wants the opportunity to prove himself.

  There are moments as a parent that you just sit back in awe... this is one of those moments...

  Embarassing Situations on stage

  My ex had a funny one growing up. He and his friends would always try to make eachother laugh on the platform when one had a part. One time my x was giving a talk and three of his friends were in the back row... He took one look at them and busted up. The CO turned around to see what he was laughing at. Well they were pretending to be the 3 monkeys...hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. Well the guy with his hands over his ears took his hands down real quick when he saw the co start to turn around. Likewise the guy with his hand over his mouth quickly put it down. But the guy with his hand over his eyes...couldn't see what was going on.... So the CO caught him... deep trouble.

  Benefits of being a Dub as a child

  i can't think of many benefits of growing up a a dub but i do remember that i always viewed the other dub kids as brorthers and sisters and they became my support system amongst the "worldly people".

  i remember going into a new neighhood or a new school and knowing that once i met the dub kids there, i would automatically have friends and i would not be alone.. this was especially comforting to me because i was an only child, and many times i entered into a new school not knowing anyone and sometimes being the only black kid in the class, my dub peers made me feel welcome and accepted me into the circle immediately.. for many years i feel special to be part of this worldwide brotherhood, and i am sure it is the reason why now i am inafriad of changes and/or new surroundings.. did you have similar experiences?.

  I was an only dub child. My parents were older...and I never got away with anything, There were not many kids in my congregation. Most wanted to be my friend because my dad was a "made man" as my bf calls him. The parents of the kids in the congregation wanted their kids to be friends with me, thinking it would advance their status in the cong. They didn't know my dad...he saw through it every time. The exception to this was my best friend...we met when we were 6 years old. We are best friends today...our friendship survived her leaving the borg about 10 years before I did... Just had dinner tonight with her and her husband.

  I always felt different... I was the only jw in my school until I was a junior in high school...it was a lonely life. I have finally gotten to know some of my former classmates after our high school reunion last year. I won't tell you how many years It's nice to get to know them and forge friendships on my own terms.

  Funny story.... I was 18... and it was 2 weeks before my wedding...(yeah, I know...wish I had known then) I was assigned a talk in the ministry school...and the subject was circumcision. I didn't know what it was (really...I was a naieve, good doobey dub) I refused to give the talk.. had I given it, I would have had a funnier story to tell.

  i was a born in jw.

  i suppose i could best be described now as an athiest.

  i have a hard time understanding how someone can figure out the jw scam and then become a born again christian.

  WHAT ARE THESE "WORKS?" NEEDED FOR FAITH?

  since it can be understood that spending 50 hours a month in preaching and meeting atttendance does not constitute acceptance with god what are the "works" talked about in the scripture where it says "faith without works is dead."?

  the wt always identifies them as meeting attendance, service and etc.

  The works are the result of faith.... the evidence that faith exists. It is not a specific set of required activities. Faith in Christ changes the person from within...producing the "fruitage of the spirit"... the result of the Holy Spirt residing in the believer. Works are the natural outcome...not because one is required to...but because one wants to.

  Jesus said "I will write my law upon your heart"....so obedience comes from within, out of one's relationship with God, as opposed to being enforced or measured by others.

  anyone ever wonder whether IT could be the TRUTH?

  i cant believe im posting this either!.

  but ive got a huge decision to make wont go thru it all again its on my last thread, and i have decided that i am stopping going to the meetings completly (ive been dfed 7 months and because i didnt want to hurt my family even more i continued going to all the meetings and hid my boyfriend, wno was wonderful about it, put a letter of reinstatement in which they refused but relised by the way i paniked when i thought they might reinstate me that it is not what i want!).

  i love my bf and want to be with him without any secrecy but i also want my family to accept him and still speak to me but i know that will not happen, so i have two choices either get reinstated and then leave (and risk losing mybf) or tell them now i dont want it and stop the meetings altogether before i go insane.. thing is to be free of the meetings and be with my bf, i will lose my family they are all so strong in the 'truth' they will not have any contact with me and my husband is divorcing me so ill lose finacially and my house and have to share time with my daughter, not to mention all my old friends who are wanting me back, and if i stop now all those months of trying to be reinstated will be wasted id be set right back,.

  I don't wonder any more. I did 2 years of solid research before leaving. It all boils down to this:

  Truth doesn't change. If it has to change, it wasn't true to begin with....and if it wasn't true to begin with, it didn't come from God.

  Dr. Vs. JW Mom on TLC "Real Stories of the ER" Last Night

  well there was a show on tv last night--and i am a real tlc fan.. anyhow, you know the routine, 16 year old kid comes in, massive trauma, jw mom does not consent to blood.

  as precious time is ticking away the dr. decides to try to get a court order.. bottom line, she is successful and saves the kid.

  she goes into the hallway to apologize to the jw mom, who tells her something along the lines of "thank you so much for saving my son.

  I don't own many skirts/dresses. In think the last time I wore a dress was for apostinator's wedding. For work mostly slacks & blazer or a suit...have to look very professional... slacks/jeans on my own time. I love color, so drab will not do.

  It's a speach pattern that is everywhere from commercials to sitcoms. The tone sounds beligerant and bored at the same time.... The intonation is flat...especially the last sylables of each sentence... drives me nuts!
