I'm sporting a fat goatee right now. I love it; I wish I had grown one sooner. Gets me some strange looks from witnesses who don't know I have faded, though.

Foudation series by Asimov, and Caves of Steel. I have read some of those books several times, and I don't even consider myself a science fiction fan.

Jojo, good for you on all you've accomplished. The best revenge is living well. Your mother is really the one who is missing out.
As far as the comment by Pixies, it IS the norm for jw family to shun their df'd children. There is an ongoing situation in my wife's hall right now. My friend is df'd. His parents will not see him, but they try to still have access to his daughter. They would not even attend his baby shower last sunday because he was going to be there. My and my buddies went to support him, because he was embarrassed. Embarrassed because the house would be full with his fiance's family and friends, and he would have nobody, since his life is filled with family and friends who refuse to associate with him.

I'm sorry, jojo. That is terrible. I can tell things are going downhill with my parents, and it is so hard to deal with. You are absolutely right, Jesus made a point to eat with all of the people that were considered "taboo". That is conveniently ignored by the witnesses.

Why can't you just move on?
by atypical inthat's what my wife said to me the night before last.
i was making an observation about the way my family and other jws in my life are constantly trying to get me to go to a meeting or read an awake, but they never want to sit down and address the questions i have raised to them.
she then asked me why i can't just move on.

Thanks to all of you who posted and shared your insight. I thought I would post an update for anyone who read this thread.
Basically, my wife and I had it out big time. She felt I was questioning her integrity when I said that she did not understand what it was like to be treated like crap by the people she is so loyal to. I told her that as long as I am alive, if someone treats me like crap, I am going to complain about it, whether or not it is convenient to anyone else's beliefs. After it blew over, she admitted that she would be upset if she was in my situation. She also said that she will not defend anyone who speaks against me. I thought that was pretty good progress.
Even though I was still upset, I went out on a limb and bought her a valentines day present. She loved it and has treated me like a prince since then. So for now, I feel like things are good with her. Not good with the witnesses, but that's another story.

Hi Darth, I'm good. How are you, bro? Things got better yesterday; I am feeling hopeful again. Last night we talked for about two hours about disfellowshipping, and she all but agreed with my stance. I also bought her a valentine's gift, which she loved. Looks like if I just make a point to be an extra good guy, she won't let any wt bs get in between us. So it's good for now. Thanks for asking.

Yeah, don't feel bad. I got a mention only by begging and pointing at my mittens.

Wow! How can I get a copy of that in print?
I was born in fall of 75. Yep, armageddon baby all the way. Woe to the pregnant woman, and all that.
That article would be great ammo for witnesses who say that the society never claimed that 75 was going to be the end.
