Anyone forcibly removed?
by Wordly Andre innot sure if this has been talked about but,
when i was about 12, my family and i were sitting in the middle of the kingdumb hall, i was seated at the end of the aisle, and some lady sitting about 7 rows in front of us got up and started yelling, and ran up to the speaker, two guys grabbed her and took her outside, we never saw her again, but i do remember all the rumors about her, and what she did, i saw her clearly but people were saying that she tried to attack the elder with a knife, i did not see a knife, other rumors were drugs, demons, apostate, etc.
has anyone here been removed from the kingdumb hall by force?

liquidsky - I agree it is terribly depressing. But it has a strong pull, as does most of Morrissey's work imo.

"The Crow". I freakin' loved it and never once felt bad to watch an R movie after that. Plus, I started noticing years back that at the assemblies and conventions they would always mention PG-13 along with R, so I always wondered why witnesses would only get hung up on R.

Fundraisers, Family, and Other Priorities
by atypical ini'm sitting here alone today while my wife, my family, and the majority of the people i have grown up around are at the district convention.
my absence is considered a strong statement about where my loyalties lie.
in the last few months i have had a good friend take his life.

I think you are right, Serendipity. A witness, if involved in a Watchtower sponsored activity, could make an excuse for neglecting almost anything in the world.

Are Faders Making It Too Easy For The WT?
by ThomasCovenant ini've always tried to teach my kids to follow aesop's fable of the 'sun and the wind', i.e.
try the gentle persuasion method for achieving your goals rather than head on aggression.
however as with most things in life there is a time and place for both.

You're right on one count, because it's true I can't be as open about "apostate" leanings. But what I mean is that a fader has more freedom within jw circles than someone who has da'd. That's the whole reason some people fade, so that they can be more free to talk to their family and friends. If it weren't for that benefit, I don't think people would go to the trouble of trying to fade out without getting df'd.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses communists?
by ozziepost inthat was the title of a tract i recall distributing in the 1950s.
it responded to the demonising of so many people in the mccarthy period.
the answer seemed obvious at the time - no, dubs are anything but communists.

Something in Gary's post really said it all for me: "at the expense of the individual" - I have not studied politics, but I do find the notion that people who are not promoting the ideals of the leader, i.e. people who are not profitable, are therefore expendable, to be extremely nauseating. I also feel that is exactly the attitude of the society.
Whatever political ideals it might match up with, I think it is a fact that individualism and self-worth are deliberately stifled in the organization.
