  A Bad experience with JW is a permit for SIN?

  i've been reading some sad experinces here... i dont see anyone talking about the bible... only how misserables the organization made their lives... ok ...so because of that...now i have permission to smoke marijuana and commit fornication?

  this sounds pretty much like aa... and everybody having his/her personal "superior power" who is giving them the permit to do whatever they want...

  i've been df for 4 years now and also dont agree with some jw teachings... why instead of blaming the wt for everything dont we look for the real truth in the bible and make things right.

  El Mariachi, if you believe jws are the true religion then you see yourself as a christian, right? Have you ever noticed how many times Jesus got upset about someones sexual habits or use of drugs or alcohol? What seemed to upset him the most? Hypocrisy, self-righteousness, and religious leaders using their power to oppress the common people. Those things also bother many of us here, which is why we left the watchtower corporation.

  Who did Jesus spend his time with? Was it with those in "good standing" with the temple, or with the prostitutes and tax collectors - in other words, those whom the "appointed" religious leaders would have considered "sinners"?

  I also used to look down on people for just a few inconsequential reasons and ignore the important things about them. I think if you ever clear your mind you will understand where most of us are coming from.

  Lying about going to meetings...what are your thoughts?

  as many of you know, i live on my own now and yesterday was quite a scare since my bf and i are $35 short on the rent!

  lol!

  we are already 5 days late but thank goodness i just started my very first waitressing job and made my first $45 tonight.

  I personally refuse to lie to my parents or anyone who pressures me about leaving the witness life. That is not to say that I give any more info than I want to, but I won't lie because to me that would imply that I feel I am doing something wrong. I do not feel I am doing something wrong by walking away from the org, and so I refuse to lie about it.

  It amazes me that within three short paragraphs the writer goes from criticizing infant baptism and forced adult baptism to promoting forced teenage baptism.

  Convention Woes.

  my mom is pressuring me into going to the convention this weekend.

  she has successfully thwarted all of my excuses and now i have to use the standby, " i have to work".

  my brothers are telling her that they really need to get me to go, it is real important.

  Hang in there. I went through the same thing last weekend. My mom tried everything from tears, to trying to get my wife to side against me and force me to go.

  Since she kept saying she missed me and could not make it through the weekend without me, I gently pointed out that she and my dad have been too busy to hang out with me for weeks, and that I would be more than happy to schedule a weekend with just them and my wife and I as soon as they can make room.

  That worked very well because she and I both know that they always have a reason they aren't able to spend time with us, and it is almost always because of some "theocratic" responsibility.

  Anyone forcibly removed?

  not sure if this has been talked about but,

  when i was about 12, my family and i were sitting in the middle of the kingdumb hall, i was seated at the end of the aisle, and some lady sitting about 7 rows in front of us got up and started yelling, and ran up to the speaker, two guys grabbed her and took her outside, we never saw her again, but i do remember all the rumors about her, and what she did, i saw her clearly but people were saying that she tried to attack the elder with a knife, i did not see a knife, other rumors were drugs, demons, apostate, etc.

  has anyone here been removed from the kingdumb hall by force?

  Gary - They cannot tolerate the witnesses at the assemblies and conventions putting money into anything except one of the contribution boxes. I'm sure they feel good about such tactics because they tell themselves they are procuring money for Jehovah.

  It reminds me of the letters they have every year demanding that people do not buy food from the vendors or leave during the lunch break.

  Rules you broke?

  what rules did you find, you couldn't help breaking as a witness?.

  i swore sometimes, got me and a mate drunk, copied software e.t.c (caesars things to caesar), celebrated a birthday/christmas or two...went against some stuff we were told not to do in the young people ask book...erm.... how about you?

  Hung out with df'd people. Even got caught once. Listened to explicit music, watched R movies, got drunk, swore. All of this started while pioneering, and really got going at pioneer school. I learned more crap in two weeks at pioneer school than I had learned all of my life in public school.

  How many meetings could you miss in a row and no questions asked?

  how many consecutive meetings could you miss without the elders making a funny face next time they saw you?.

  usually if i missed 3 meetings in a row or if the elders didn't see me for a whole week, it would show on their face at the next meeting.. then if i attended 3 in a row, their smiles came back.

  Me, no more than one or two. Then it was the good old, "Haven't seen you in forever!" even though it had only been less than a week.

  Who Pioneered?

  my two sisters did the right thing, pioneering straight out of school, janitoring to pay for the petrol (one didn't even bother with her final year of school).

  it was this kind of fine example that got me guilt-tripped into auxiliary pioneering just after getting baptised at age 20. i only lasted six months; i took a holiday in queensland and returned not knowing much more about life but at least that it's bigger than my little congregation.

  i despised the field service, i dreaded the daily schedule and every morning i was on my way out there was this awful countdown from the alarm going off to the first door opening, knowing that it's just a big setup to another depressing humiliation.

  I pioneered right after high school instead of going to college. I gave it three and a half years. I finally quit because I realized that I was dealing with more gossip, backbiting, and criticism from the elders than when I was not killing myself to make a living and pioneer at the same time. I wish I could get those three and a half years back.

  I was harassed by one of my pioneer buddies. We were about 18/19 and good friends at first. He started following me around town when I didn't know it, and then would ask me the next day if my parents knew what I had been doing (that particular time I had gone to visit my girlfriend at her work - I was absolutely forbidden to date her). Then he started using my name as his own. I was approached by some local wannabe thugs who were ready to beat the tar out of me because this guy had been going around town putting them down and using my name as his.

  When I tried to confront him about what he was doing, he literally ran and called the police. He then went to the elders and told them that I tried to run him over with my car. This happened the day before I left for pioneer school (he wasn't going because he had been removed a few weeks back). It sounds funny now that I am retelling it, but at the time I was seriously traumatized. It was the first reality check I really had as a witness, having been extremely sheltered my whole life up to that point.

  Texas Hold-em

  awhile ago i wanted to learn how to play poker..i learned how to play texas hold-em..i am now a professonal poker player..so far i have won 1.6 million dollars..live in a beautiful mansion..and wear a really cool hat..at least on ps2..lol!

  I love playing poker with my ex-witness friends, especially Texas hold em. I'm still no good at it, but I don't care.
