Right....'cause they always talked about people calling us a cult and said we weren't. How cultish is that type of thinking?

Possable "New Light"?
by 2112 inwith all the "buzz" around the up-comming october anouncment, i have a question.
i have thought about this for a long time, is it possable that they would tell all those married to non-witnesses to divorce their mates?
it could be for the reason of "unevenly yoked", and/or keeping spritually clean.

But compare non-JW mates to corpses and ask why a JW would be kissing a corpse...that has been done.

THE BORG WANTS YOUR NUMBER
by Mary inmy elderly dub aunt (who's the biggest whiner the world has ever seen) came over tonight to first of all, whine about how her neighbour shuts her kitchen cupboard doors in the most annoying way possible and her dog barks and what was she supposed to do about it?
anyway, as soon as these monumental problems were solved, she informed me that at the bookstudy the other night, the conductor told everyone to "stay after the prayer" as he had 'something important to announce.
" naturally everyone did this, all the while wondering if the red phone at patterson was in direct contact with jehovah himself as the study was being conducted.

My husband filled out a card before he went to book study a couple of weeks ago. He had not only his contact info, but also my name and cell number, along with two of our adult kids's numbers. He said it was emergency contact info in case there was an emergency like Katrina. I saw my name and number on there and could feel the heat rising. I didn't know how to ask him to take it off there without making it sound like I wouldn't want to be contacted if there was an emergency regarding his situation. Grrrrrr..

I was newly married and wanting to please my husband who had studied previously and wanted to get back into it. We split up over it but then I was struggling too much on my own raising 2 kids back then. I came back with the agreement I'd commit to it all. Downhill slide from there..............

How many 'real" friends did you ever really have in ther "truth'
by The Lone Ranger insure we got to know a lot of people, we knew a lot more people then the average person, but how many real friends did we ever have?
a friend that we could trust, that we could confine in.
i can say i had just one, bro x and even then i still had to be careful, bro x is an elder now and he tells me that im the only real friend hes ever had, he cant freely talk to anyone.

I had one. We and our husbands were inseperable friends until we moved out of state. They stopped going to meetings a couple years after we left. I remember being so sad. We gradually drifted apart over the years because of distance but she was a true friend in every way. I saw her at my Mom's funeral a few years back and it was as if we'd never been out of contact. I'm sure everyone else I considered friends over the years would have nothing to do with me now that I've 'fallen away'.

COLLEGE!
by RichieRich inoh, so in the midst of everything else, college is goin well.. about 30 % of my high school graduating class came here, so its really just like high school part2.
i have 2 morning classes, and 2 night classes, so that way the majority of my schooling gets done on 2 days of the week instead of 4. last night was my first night in my english 111 class.
i already knew thaqt there was one witness in there, but its someone who i've kept up with, and someone who is cool with me, as i am.

Hmmmm...wonder why Jehoba and his holy spirit didn't protect her from the bad apostate? Oh, of course...it was Satan putting her to the test. Good job on college Richie. Sounds like it's off to a great start.

For the over 50 crowd: What advice...
by serendipity in.
for those of you who are over 50, what advice regarding living a meaningful life would you give to the younger crowd?
do you wish you took a different path earlier in life?

Be true to yourself. Don't do everything in your life based on what will make OTHER people happy. Get an education. Have an opinion and ask questions. Be happy.

Update on my friend
by fullofdoubtnow ini spoke to my friend marion, who is currently trying to fade, earlier this evening.
i havem't seen much of her lately, as she has been on holiday, and is also spending time with her son, the non - witness one.
she is keeping a low profile lately, as it is now around 2 months since she last went to a meeting, and the elders are harassing her.
