Maybe the older folks think it is because in the last days the young will become rebels etc. I think that it is all too sureal for most teen folk JWs and their parents know now that they haven't seen things happen as they were told that they would, so hopefully they will soon be borg free!

Waxing
by Lo-ru-hamah ini am going to try this on my legs.
has anyone, or does anyone get their legs waxed?
how bad does it hurt?
-
Tish
Try Sugaring I am qualified at it. It is less painful, breaks less hairs and actually deminishes the hair growth. Legs I find the most painful, but I do suffer myself with very sensitive skin. The other thing is to take some paracetomol before going which will take the edge of the pain.
Also you are more suseptable to ingrown hairs as the hairs are more puny after waxing/Sugaring so use Tea Tree Oil to prevent this, this will disolve any dead skin over a hair and stop red boils from developing as it is an anticeptic (not to use if you are pregnant though) and ALWAYS MOISTURISE this will stop your next treatment from being so painful as you will not pull the skin as well as hairs.
And finally the therapist should use talc as this stops the product pulling at your skin and only your hairs.
Good luck......

Hi, sorry to hear you have such bad parents, you know now it's down to you to make sure you don't make the same mistakes. As my husband says no one can judge you except your own children.
Congratulations on you baby, may you and your wife be blessed by this child...

CO Visit Nightmares
by Tish inso i grew up as a jw and my family had no elders etc so we were not the type to have the honour of co visiting for lunch etc.. so when the opportunity arrived 5 yrs ago i tried to do it all properly.
my husband had to go into work at the last minute leaving me with a baby with chicken pox and a son off from school with a twisted ankle, my daughter was high on astma meds which mean't she was throwing roast potatos across the table at the co's wife whilst i did my best be the hostess with the mostest.. sadly my hubbie at the time did not get made a mini as the elders had hoped until i could control the children!!.
has anyone else had any funny things happen to them whilst entertaining cos?

They just probably wanted to carry on and get another hour on the ministry and were upbuilding you. Remember JWs are used to standing on a door for 20 mins when they know nobody is in, that's called pioneering.

Did you get counselled for going backpacking months at a time?
by truthseeker innot many people will have faced this situation, but i know at least one brother who was counselled on backpacking.
it was said that he would be damaged spiritually.. how would he get to the meetings in countries he travelled in?.
what if he was 100's miles away from the nearest hall?.
-
Tish
I can only imagine that there would be problems if you did not get your report in on time for talking to other backpackers!
I suppose you would have problems not knowing where to knock, but seriously does that mean that John the Baptist would have also been counselled??

Did U Know A Lot Of "Cuckoo" JWs???
by minimus ini knew a number of elder's wives that were nuts.
one in particular used to talk to herself regularly.
-
Tish
We used to have loadz of nutters - one sis used to be able to get 5 rows all to herself by eating enough raw garlic to see the whole crew off from Blade 3 off she used to sit at the front on a Sunday and the poor guy giving the Public Discourse would obivously be sitting down wind to her - oh our bellies ached esp if he was boring!!!

Well during the war obviously we would have made it last but we are quite outrageous with our tea bags and hell who cares how much flava is left.
We also gage how far up north you are by how strong your cup a tea is, so if I get asked I like it slightly north of Dudley, which funnily enough is where an JayDubb Assembly Hall is!!
Obviously though we are not as fussy as you yanks about the state of coffee, we like our instant over here unless we listen to classical music! LOL

I bought a cross.
by lostlantern ini will consider this my first act of spiritual freedom.
i bought myself a celtic cross, i will admit i picked one out that i hope isn't recognizable to my parents.
i know it is pathetic to be 31 and still afraid of what they think but i am not ready to lose them.

My husband bought my 1st cross for my birthday 2 weeks ago and even though I have been out for 5 years still look around constantly to see if there are any witlesses around. But I now have freedom in Christ and tend to notice whenever I am pondering something that I am touching the cross isn't that's what it is all about looking to Jesus n what he did for us by dying on the cross not worshipping an execution implement as I was brought up to believe.

Red eyes
by beautifulisfree injust the other day i had a horrible witness flashback.
i remembered that when my dad was an elder...he would come home from his elder meetings with red eyes.
he also would get red eyes whenever he was mad at the family about something 'spiritual' like how we didn't have the pioneer spirit or how we were wearing to short of dresses (even if they came down to the floor).

I think that it's down to KHs not having windows so they can't see the light.......... Even though it is getting brighter and brighter (on new builds anyway)
