  2006 Predictions for the WTS

  not sure if this has been done yet, and i know i'm a little late with it, but with the big news, the potential for new light coming soon, and the dropping increase in worldwide jw membership, what do you think is going to happen this year with the wts?

  Same. Nothing for this year. If the US bombs Iran or some crap like that, then there will be the usual slight increase and excitement as disaffected JW's suddenly imagine the end is close after all and they need to get their butts back into the 'Ark' for salvation. Things may get a bit interesting post-2014 when we can expect an increased snow-balling of those who've had enough of 'waiting' for the end that they have been told for so many years is always 'at hand'.

  "it keeps watch on world events as these fulfill bible prophecy".

  when was the last time you read an article that discussed current world events and how they are related to bible prophecy?

  To help us understand how close we are to the end? Ezra, you have got to be joking man. The Watchtower has patently failed in that task. It has since it's inception 130 years ago done nothing but boastfully proclaim that the end is nigh, yet this system still goes on. This is because their chronology, dates, and the 'composite sign' are all hopelessly wrong. Perhaps the end of this world is close, who knows, but the plain fact of the matter is that the Watchtower Society has failed to help its adherents truly understand where they are in the stream of time, other than constantly repeating the nebulous mantra: 'the end is at hand'! Jesus said to keep in expectation of him, yes, but the Watchtower has gone beyond that and used the fear of Armageddon and hope that God will soon intervene as a psychological fear tool based on completely unfounded premises. The WTS has proven itself to be a presumptous false prophet on numerous occasions - nothing more, nothing less.

  Not according to Buddhists. Their aim to kill the constantly thinking mind and remain instead aware of the present moment. Their argument is that too much thinking creates evil. In fact writers such as Eckhart Tolle insist that we are generally unconscious as long as we are thinking.

  The problem is not a lack of thinking by JW's because all they ever go on about is knowledge, knowledge,knowledge (John 17:3 ad nauseum). The problem is what they think about. Their problem is a lack of considering all sides of the argument. They wilfully choose to only think about what their own leaders feed them.

Yea that's very simple but it's also ridiculous, being quite obviously profoundly self-contradictory and an insult to your intelligence. 3 = 1, all 3 distinct and separate but making up one God. What a load of nonsense, honestly. It amazes me the abstruse and twisted nonsense that staunch trinitarian defenders will resort to in order to explain away the obvious meaning of crystal clear statements by Jesus and others in the bible. It's never enough to accept Jesus words at face value when he said that the Father was greater than him, that no one was good but God (ie, the Father), that Jesus could do nothing of his own initiative but only what the father told him, that he was sent by the Father, that Jesus twice referred to the Father is his God and the God of Mary, that Jesus was literally dead and had to be resurrected by the Father, that Jesus was given all authority and his throne, that the apostle Paul said that the head of Christ was God, that the Father gave Jesus his new name in heaven, that Jesus had to learn obedience, that Paul only ever called the Father God and never Jesus, and so on and so on. The tortured, unconvincing reasoning to explain these clear biblical statements makes me pity trinitarians.

  That is incorrect. The WTS has said that there have been ‘wheat’ that arose in various past centuries but that they got quickly crushed by the weeds. They acknowledge certain groups or individuals in the last 2,000 years as most likely being true Christians.

  Whatever. So says the author of that site without producing any scriptures to prove it. I suppose they feel Matt 28:19,20 proves the trinity LOL.

  Nonsense. It is up for debate. There are other translations and scholars that agree with the NWT rendering or similar to it.

  Not once have JW's ever said that works alone is all that is required. How about showing the full context of that 1972 article instead of taking things out of context. So what does James 2:26 mean? It is through faith that we are saved but obviously there should be Christian works that naturally flow from that faith. The two must go hand in hand. Don’t give me this ‘once saved always saved’ crap. .

  That’s typical, take a really old quote from 1881 and try and make out this is still what JW’s officially teach. LOL and then this person quotes a couple of scriptures which refute their earlier claim that God is three in one.

  What a pathetic defense this is. Quote a few symbolic verses and make them out to be literal. Dumb. This person reckons JW's teach rubbish, but only a moron would believe that God roasts people forever in hell.

  Coincide with pagan holidays? LOL. This person doesn’t know much about the history and motives of the Roman Catholic Church.

  Can DaVinci Code make Witnesses think?

  i've just finished reading the book...and i know most of it is fiction, but some of you might have read it too.

  as an ex-jw, it really made me think...the author has an excellent way to make one think outside the box without making it look like he wants to ram his ideas into your head...you know, it's kind of subtle, amongst all the action and enigmas.

  my father loves to read...i really want him to read that book.

  I read 'the da Vinci Code', then promptly went away and read 'Secrets of the Code' to start learning the true story. Nothing in the DVC made me lost my faith in the bible.

  Oprah, James Frey and the call for TRUTH

  i don't know if you have been following the story about james frey, author of a million little pieces, how the book was inducted into oprah's book club last fall, with him making an appearance on the show, proclaiming the "memoir" as completely true and unaltered.

  she even delayed announcing her next book club selection by six weeks to give this book more publicity.. some investigation by the smoking gun revealed that many of the accounts in the book were embellished beyond any recognition of truth.

  for example, the incident where frey claims to have been in jail for 3 months, was actually only a matter of hours.

  before coming on this forum i didn't know that the jws had changed the generation definition from literal to symbolic and i obviously predicted that this religion will be finished when that last 1914 codger dies.

  when i found out that they had changed their definition i thought, bloody hell this religion is going to go on forever.

  then i thought that no, they are going to fade out, then i settled on, they are going to survive just like the catholics and orthodox.

  Nonsense. It was the Father's voice that spoke from heaven when the greater Moses, Jesus, got baptised. Same voice that spoke to Moses himself.
