yesterday was one of the most important days in my life: i told my mom i didn't want to go to meetings anymore.

all began in december, when i started to stop going.

Of course she is disappointed. It now has become clear you do not wish to walk the same way as she has done for some time and probably will do for some time in the future. Did you also tell her of your sexual orientation? If yes, that sense of disappointment may have also arisen from another perspective. Why not talk to her about it?

By what you have related to us, it seems she is treating you well. The least you can do is return her that courtesy. She has had to put up with many of you inconveniences when you were growing up. I'm sure you will be able to find ways to express your love for her.

Impressive, indeed.

Similarities on many levels. Disfellowshipping, shunning, all in all a framework of believes which makes it unique for the former WWCG.

What I found amazing that during the time this Armstrong guy was on it's high, within the leadership sublevels there was hidden dissention from the established doctrines. Not outspokenly formulated, but unease as to the direction of the church and the solidness of doctrine.

But at the point of finding out, they took the gamble and laid it al out in the open. The org splintered apart.

I do hope WTG will find the same courage. Although I will not wait for that to happen.

Why did they not try to 'Save' me?

i have pondered this question on many occasions.

when i began to have 'doubts' and began to 'question' some doctrine, and particularly the lack of christian love, very little effort was made to 'snatch me out of the fire' as elders are admonished to do.

i have always wondered why we as jw's would spend countless hours trying to start bible studies with 'wordly' people, while at the same time ignoring those who are moving away from dead center of the organization.

I am not making a fuzz or have a for all to see apostate ministry (although I have but concealed!)So, I've seen some half hearted efforts made, the word effort does not even apply, maybe: attempt, nothing else. Not even a response when I did not file my hour report for 3 months in a row. Just the kind request to not forget to file them.

No need for karate. Just the basics of akido, but then with words.

What if they really would try? The elders will lie awake at night while the pointy responses keep repeating through their heads. Bereft of an answer they will try to shut there eyes but that would not be possible.

The only mantra that will "help" to ease up is: FDS.

Now I come to think of it: Looks like drugs.....!

it amazes me how the wts keeps on telling its members about how they're seeing bible prophecy being fulfilled today.

however, just look at when the last significant jw prophecy was recorded: 1928.. what happened in 1928?

it was the fulfillment of the final trumpet blast of revelation at a jw convention in detroit, michigan.

I second that this is an WWCoG offspring. In one of his epistles Meredith writes about the youth of Herbert W.Armstrong. See: http://www.tomorrowsworld.org/cgi-bin/tw/tw-mag.cgi?category=Magazine47&item=1174006812.

And they hold firmly to upholding the 10 commmandments. Only then can you be saved and survive the big A.

Yes, many comparissons and it would not surprise me at all if there is some kind of reciprocal influence.

Does The Memorial Mean ANYTHING To You???

It's actually quite funny to see people besiege Gods Blessing on the bread and wine and the people present all subsequently refusing to take anything. Much a do about nothing.

It reminds me of the people who were in Israel without being circumsized. They were not allowed to partake. But could if they so wanted. Here, not a chance, even if you wanted to although the wine symbolizes the blood that needs to be used to survive the big A.

This year the wine glases were half full and small in size.(it was anticipated no one would partake!)Even the decanter was only minorly filled.

But I liked the coffee, wine and cake afterwards.

well, as per usual, the memorial talk bored the hell out of me, but i found it, in one way to be an improvement over last years when they had the most boring speaker on the planet there http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/111544/1.ashx this guy at least knew how to speak.

unfortunately, he didn't have much of a script to work with.. there was the mention of adam sinning and mankind needing a redeemer etc., no mention of when the israelites left egypt though.

that's probably the first year i've ever seen where this hasn't been mentioned.

I found it quite amusing......There were about 50 people together praying for Gods BLESSING on the bread and wine and no one took it. The greatest renounciation.........I could not help laughing.

moral decay

the cover story is about morals.

the thing that immediately caught my eye was the explicite standpoint that the morals of this world went into decay in 1914. .
