it seems to me that a repeating pattern with jw's is unfolding yet again.
i wonder if anybody else can "see" the same thing, or am i just imaginiing things?.
here's the scenario:.
They are very good at accomodating themselves.
Whenever there is a new development, because time is running out on them on one of their long held believes, they tend to come up with some new explanation, backtrack or not, and the R&F buys it because of the "progessive" nature of the borg.
Basically, like any normal company would do. But then claiming to be gods mouthpiece........well the pet does need a name does it?

have you ever wondered what the modern equivalent of a pharisee wearing a phylactery is?
(for those who dont know, a phylactery was a little box that ancient jews would secure to their forehead with a strap, and inside the box was the shema or other important scriptures.
What I always found interesting that Act 15 have Pharisees already in the steering committe of the Jerusalem church at a very early stage.
From their point of view: "christianty" must have had an appeal since it's adherent since Jerusalem are talked about as being examplary in fulfilling the requirements of the law.
Another note: From it's alledges inception up untill now there is discussion about what "christianity" really means despite or even because of Acts 15, provided there is a real meaning.

THe father refers to his babies as sextuplets.......Like the medical wanted to take all of them away. They would help the parents to give birth to a healthy(er) twin.
That is a whole different image. He is trying to play the role of victim and thus trying to get sympathisers.

In our cong NO elder wanted to give any enlightening comments on the ethical implications of this case and given the fact that this is a huge story in that corner of the world: My JW sources out there are deafeing silent. The only comment they offered was: take note: the slave will send there best and brightest and will win.

ok - so special talk today - you can feel safe in a troubled world.
15 minutes devoted to to how bad things are.
iraq and usa were headlined and 1914 was mentioned > 20 times.
As for out little neck of the woods: droning 20 minutes about how bad this world is. That earthquackes makes you to lose your sense of securty. Being robed at bright daylight bla bla....this did not happend in the past...blabla.
They totally lost me after 5 minutes.....and woke up after 2 hours....

i have to admit, for many years i hated it.
before i got married i used to do lots of my own cooking and enjoy artistry of it.
heck, i'm not saying i was an expert at it but the important thing was i loved it.. but then things hit the fan and for years after, particularly because being on my own now, i would find any and every excuse in the cookbook not to do it lol.
To me cooking is somewhat of a weekend ritual. The kitchen is all mine. The fam is not allowed to enter. My realm! saturday morning is always the moment to discuss: what are we going to eat? Do the shopping on the market. Then, a la moment supreme: lock myself into my realm. Glas(es) of wine, some music, depending on my mood, and cooking.
Anyone ever had spanish pork? No I do not mean pork in general, but pork that has been running around in the backyard and fed on acorns......? It makes sure that the pork is low on fat and as heathy as olive oil. Taste: tremendously good, it melts on the tong.....
Getting hungry, yet?

that is why murder cannot be forgiven; the deceased is not around to accept your apology or restitution!.
What I find interesting is that the idea of atonement has not been elaborated on untill quite late in the gospels for example: Matth 20 (ca 45 AD)and barely a few lines are devoted to that. The only real difference there is the gospel of John but then again that one comes at least 30 - 60 years after Jesus. Quite some time to develop some fancy religious idea. And that brings us to Pauline letters.

It's tough that you and Amber are going through this. Is you MIL the only one who have mentioned it to the elders?
In that case play dummy and let the two witness rule apply. If they don't have a case...of they have to go. Pity for them. But this way you can continue your fade without a problem. "Confessing" will not bring you any further, unless you really agree with your MIL to have it ended.
Disclosing it to you side of the family might proof to be hazardous because then there are at least two witnesses.
However, if you are ready to take the burn it might proof to be an eyeopener to your parents.

Wanderer, have you ever tried to compare nautical maps from say: the 14 hundreds with current maps?
If you have not, try that one. It may give you some idears about the issue you raised.

why does the watchtower exist in this modern day world?.
it started off because someone wanted power, authority and control.
are those still the main reasons?
Asimov wrote a very interesting, although fictitious book about it: Foundation-series. ...Herbert wrote about the same subject from a different angle, although again fictitious: Dune-series.
These book are not scientific studies, far from it. But you may find somne interesting analogies and mechanisms there.
