  WT Study on Education - How did it go?

  i didn't attend the meeting today and i haven't spoken to any fellow witnesses about the study yet.

  anyone care to share how their meeting went?

  any interesting comments made for or against the wts policy on higher education?

  Inquisitor - must be reading my mind, I was going to start a thread on this...

  Well we had to go to meeting yesterday, and it was truly horrific to sit through this study. You had your usual commenters like "anyone in THEIR RIGHT MIND wouldn't choose college over Jah" or "we really need to be good CHRISTIAN parents, and save our kids from the dangers at school!" UGHHHH>>>> THen there were a lot of comments from those that did go to college and how hard it was to get to meetings, service, and all that stuff.

  Anyhow, one funny thing happened at our meeting that is worth repeating.... Me and ITIS (my hubby) were sitting in the back row in the corner, underlining all the stupid ideas, and drawing mustaches and such on the pictures in the study. THe guy that was handling the microphone by us, about half way through the study, looks at us and says kind of under his breath but loud enough for others to hear - " the counsel is NOT to go to college, but it seems like most everybody here HAS gone to college!" This guy is NY Italian and very outspoken. He also has a great teenage daughter who is pioneering and going to school to be a teacher. She is really an exceptional kid! But the poor kid has to defend her decision all the time. Anyhow, me and ITIS started cracking up. He walked away shaking his head and it truly seemed like he just wasn't buying it....

  So....I wonder how many others sitting there - just aren't buying that direction any longer? Let's hope the majority don't buy it, and they get wise enough to send their kids to college!

  Maybe it's foolish for me to answer these polls seeing as I WAS the BM for awhile, but I think there's another side of the picture that I can add to this...

  1. On a scale of one to ten, one being the lowest, how do you rate the importance of trust in your relationship? probably 8, It's hard to expect your partner to be TOTALLY trustworthy ALL the time. I mean who hasn't fibbed to their partners at least once.....?

  2. One to ten, intimacy? this would be a 10 for me. If I'm not conncecting totally at all levels of initimacy then I don't want to be there...

  3. One to ten, honesty? 10 or maybe even 11. I took a personality test recently and I scored very high in the reality/honesty areas. I'd rather be TOTAL LY honesty and then deal with the isssues at hand....

  4. Does your partner trust you? Why? Yes, I think so. I guess you'd have to ask him....

  5. Do you trust your partner? Why? Yes. He's always been trustworthy and reasonable even when we've had ups and downs.

  6. What does it take for your trust to rebuild? Is it time? Certain actions of your partner? We had our relationship tested once in certain ways and I would have to say it was time and actions that did the healing.

  7. For you, what is the ultimate trust-breaker? That is, if your partner betrayed you on this, you could not rebuild your trust? Him cheating on me physically with another woman. I could never get the mental picture out of my head. I'd be thinking in the back of my head every time we were intimate...is he thinking of HER or me right now??? All though, maybe if there were circumstances to take into consideration, I may be able to forgive even that kind of act.......I'm just not jealous and possessive. You'll be with me if you want to, and if you don't then I wish you the best.

  8. Has your partner ever told you that you must adjust your attitude and forgive them? No

  9. Has your partner ever diminished your feelings of betrayal, for example, saying it's not such a big deal? NO! That would send me packing in a minute!

  Trust is either there or it isn't. There are only about 2 or 3 people I trust totally in my life. I don't really know why I trust them so much, I just do.

  Thanks Blondie- I love to read these! It makes sitting through it at meeting slightly tolerable when I can pick the article apart with your help!

  This is a VERY soar subject for me, so I'll be interested to see how many other people have trouble swallowing this one down! "New light" on education!......AGAIN!!

  Golly Gee - yes indeedy! That's my plan as soon as I sell my house. Start over. Sometimes a new physical location can make all the difference in the world. Keep posting, I'm new too and it's quite therapuetic to get it out.....

  .................because I think I'm over my initial shock and heartbreak of learning about all the lies, and now I can just sit back and laugh at all the great threads. It's been great therapy. Sometimes I have to take a break from all the research, and just laugh a little/ okay a lot. ( CHECK OUT RICHIE ON THE AWAKE COVER!! )

  Just a thought from ITIS's wifey poo....

  His avatar is totally him. It's a sense of humor that sometimes people don't get.....

  I have to say it is a little disturbing though. Gorilla with long hair, SEDUCTIVELY looking into the camera, and some boobs that I"m a little envious of, to be very honest!

  Tetrapod hit it dead on......you ladies just want ITIS's pic up to stare at his sublime yumminess! Sorry, I guess you have to share him with me again! But hey, I'm not the jealous type, stare all you want......he still comes home with ME at the end of the day, pink bikini and all.

  Why the h*ll am I bothered by this. I KNOW this is how she is.

  I can't even tell you how many times I've thought or said this about my own mother.......

  You think this because you are dumbfounded anyone, especially a MOTHER, could be so cold, cruel, and bitter. It's so hard to understand because it's not at all part of your makeup. Be thankful and happy for that!

  I hope you can find a way to honor your sister and have some closure for yourselves. She looked so sweet in that picture sitting next to your baby.........Love, FreedomLover

  i read a scientific study a few months ago that stated the women where more susceptible to religion than men.

  (i am trying to find this article as i dont like not backing up my claims.

  anyway it got me thinking a lot.
