such a sad thread for me also LL.
I have no feelings for my mother. Neither hate nor love. She was never "motherly" to any of us kids. She has severe issues and doesn't know how to love herself or her kids. None of us kids have anything to do with her anymore because a relationship with any meaning to it is impossible with her.
Mom,
why couldn't you JUST have been kind to us??

Howdy ya all!
We were watching 20/20 tonight and this girl was on whose name was Brandi Binder and she had half her brain removed and is alive and well. Quite a remarkable story actually. The thing we noticed though was the bookshelves behind her in a video scene was FULL of JW books!
So, anybody know this girl? We googled her and found out she is in Colorado Springs. -

What kind of funeral will you have?
by MsMcDucket ini know that this is a morbid topic, but i often wonder what kind of funeral that i should have.
i mean, i'm not associated with any religion.
i don't want a preacher there speaking about the afterlife or trying to recruit followers.

*A viking burial would be pretty cool, but kinda pretentious in this day and age.*
LT-
pretentious you say??!! I guess you didn't read MY post. he he he
but hell, I don't care if it is pretentious. It seems like such a great way to go to me.

I think the way I'd love to go out is like the Druids/Celts/Norse did. They would build this big wood bed and set you on it and light it on fire and then cast you out to sea. Very spiritual sounding to me. THEN....yes, yes, a big old brew-ha-ha. Lots of food, alcohol, smoking, fun times. In all things considered I'm a blip on the grand radar. Actually, a blip may be too generous. Mourn me for the moment, and get on with your lives..... :)

How did you cope?
by Zico inwhen you found out that this religion probably wasn't the one true religion like you had believed probably for a large portion of your life, or maybe even all of it, how did you react?
my whole life belongs to the society.
all my friends are witnesses, my family are witnesses, even my job is dedicated to the society.

I was born in also. Also, thought I'd live forever in Paradise. It was devastating, heartbreaking, and I didn't know if I'd ever get over it when I realized all the lies.
It takes time. It takes patience. Just be true to yourself and your feelings. You'll figure it out and find your way. Life is WAY BETTER than it ever was before when I was in organization.
Hang out, keep reading, and posting. Vent here when you need to.

suppose it's time....
by BlackSwan of Memphis inalright.. i've been here for over a year.
and i guess after opening my big stupid mouth on jw's thread regarding child abuse it's time for me to share a bit more about me.... .
when i was in my preteens i ran away from home in the middle of the night.

((((((megan)))))))
you are so brave to share this.
I can't begin to understand the horror of abuse to children. You are brave to defend other children who are victims of this.
Love you sweety...... -

haha, I do exist (interesting experience)(long but interesting)
by BlackSwan of Memphis inok yesterday i was on my way to bally's and thought i would stop at target to get a coffee (they have a new starbucks in there) and get a few things first.. thing is, on my way there i noticed that there was just something in the atmosphere that day.
pretty weird.
couldn't put my finger on it.. target is located at the west end of a strip mall.

Go girl! I'm smiling a big old grin for you right now! ;)
I too have started doing my part at least. I just sent a letter to my friend that threatened to turn me in. It was just a card with some gifts we sent for her kids, and it was just a casual card about life and things here. Nothing with JW issues. She is ignoring me, but I'm not going to just let her forget about me.
We haven't been DFed or DAed also but we are still being shunned. Amazing.
I think I made this connection when I realized, I'm still going to be human to them even if they treat me inhumanely.
Rock on girl!!

When you were a JW, did anyone ask you a question that caused you to doubt?
by Victorian sky inno dotrinal question could shake me, but it was a personal one, out in service that started my initial doubts.
a man asked me: 'are you really happy?
' i couldn't say, 'no, i'm miserable' but i thought it was a powerful question, anyone else asked something that really shook them?

Welcome Mahju-
I know the "scary" part of joining in here, so WELCOME!! YOu are so NOT crazy for asking questions. Being raised a JW you are taught it's wrong to question anything. I know many here have been DF'ed for asking questions. I asked questions because I was genuinely confused about certain teachings. Right away the elders turned things on me, and asked "WHY are you asking these things?" "WHO told you to ask these things?" I was terrified when they did this, so I started to research on my own and I was shocked at the things I found out. The only reason I haven't been DFed is because I've faded away and moved 1,000 miles away to start my life over.
You are welcome to ask questions here! You no doubt will receive many different answers and opinions but you can pick and choose what you'd like to listen to. Many here will try to answer as best as they can. Some are very angry at the treatment they have received and that can be reflected in their comments.
Keep asking questions. It's healthy and NORMAL!
