The Story of Adam & Eve
by LaCatolica ini learned that the story of adam and eve was exactly that, 'a story'.
i remember learning that in my religion class in high school.
i learned that the old testament was filled with tales and that none should be taken literally because these were stories of oral tradition.

Do You Ask for Referrals?
If you are currently conducting a Bible study, why not ask the student if any of his friends, relatives, or acquaintances would also enjoy learning what the Bible teaches? Often several names are given. With the student's permission, you could mention his name when you visit those individuals to offer a Bible study. You might say, "[Name of student] has enjoyed studying the Bible, and he thought that you too might like to benefit from our free Bible study program." Then briefly demonstrate how the study is conducted, using the Bible Teach book.
If you have a student who is making good progress, you might encourage him to describe the study arrangement to friends and family members who might be interested. He could invite them to sit in on his study. Or if that is not convenient, he could arrange for you to meet with them to demonstrate the study arrangement. Doing this would encourage the student to begin sharing his Bible knowledge with others.
Those on whom you make regular return visits may also provide you with referrals, even if they themselves have not yet accepted a regular Bible study. When you offer them a copy of the Bible Teach book, you could simply ask, "Do you know anyone else who would enjoy having a copy of this publication?"
In view of the urgency of the times, we want to use every possible means to help people hear and accept the good news. Do you ask for referrals?

by sf incan riches make you happy?
what is the relationship between money and happiness?
do you think that riches would make you happy?.

IMO thes articles are targeted toward the poor who have no clue what riches or happiness is.
Cull the poor and promise paradise. Poor suckers indeed.

I have a feeling that "The Watchtower" of 4/1/2006 was an April Fool
by MinisterAmos inthe issue contains the "life story" of a brother who has been in for sixty years, but it really sounds like someone from jwd who is subtly bashing the org.. according to him he only got dunked some 60 years ago because "my mother (repeatedly) emphasized one point to me; armageddon is coming soon"!
when he was baptized to age 13 he "only understood basic bible teachings and understood that he was responsible to jehovah for my conduct".
note he specifically omits mention of the wtbs as being representive of god and fails to mention "showing glory to the elders and others" as demanded in wt 9/1/97 but is seeming to mock the wt with the "soon" remark and also with the fact that he was baptized at 13, without his parent's permission and with little knowledge.. anyway, his mom is dead and here we are 60 years later.

From previous post: Thankyou for wanting to help. I believe I have a good chance of winning this lawsuit. The Watchtower lawyers are Defendants and have tried three times to have the lawsuit thrown out and have failed. Last week, The Juctice decided to have the lawsuit go to Trial. That made National and World News. I have set up a paypal account. The email address for the paypal account is: [email protected] For those persons who live in North America, I would prefer that they mail me a draft or certified cheque, or cheque. That way I can photocopy them, keep a log of donations and return the money to them if I win the lawsuit or do not need the money. I also would like to know who donates so that I can thank them. Please pass on this message and post it on other web sites. HISTORY does not just happen...................HISTORY is made............................we can make HISTORY together. Thanks for your help. Lawrence Hughes

Why didn't Jesus Give Instructions for a Bible?
by gumby inmatt: 24:14 .."and this good new of the kingdom will be preached in all the earth as a witnesss to all the nations - and then the end will come".. jesus plan was that by the time he was to return, the earth would be schooled as to who and what he was.
suppose you were going to leave the planet for 2000 years and you wanted the entire earthly society of people who would be alive when you returned to know about you.
would you tell someone to write down all your words of truth since these words would produce salvation and eternal life to all who believed in you........or would you tell a handful of diciples or say even 500 buddies to spread your words to their children and down through the succeding generations?.

Yes myelaine everyone is welcome here, including your "unavoidable" comments...or is that too permissive?
