Oddly, I just accepted it then, sort of like the young people who stand on street corners and sell flowers for their church (moonies?)
Don't forget the poor JW that stands on the street corner and tries to sell the WTBTS's stuff.
(loonies?)
well it wasn't the long awaited visit we have been looking for, but i guess they are still working on it!
my husband and i have been waiting for over 5 weeks for a reply back from the elders as to the date discrepancy of 607 (between the watchtower references and the appendix.
)we blew them away when they were here, and said they would go do the research...until today we have heard nothing from anyone.

do the other witnesses with whom you associate/once associated in general know that you are an apostate or have apostate inclinations?
the reason for the phrase "in general" is that it may be the case that one or two close friends know how you feel, but others in general do not.
in my own case, one other witness knows, but no one else, so i would answer the survey question with a "no".
No
my mom found this one and flipped..... .
benevolently greedy.. ridiculously wise.. unfortunately lucky.. painfully happy.. stupidly smart.. a contradiction in terms;.
blind,.
Heres one from a song that I heard. When I hear the song, it reminds me of all the people here that got tired of all the lies, the pain, the hurt, the abuse and stood up for what they believed to be right, by speaking up and not keeping silent, even with the threat of losing family and friends.
Can't Keep Me Silent
Well I guess, it's human nature
How people out talk eachother
But then, we face the danger
Of only listening to ourselves
In the pressure of the situation
I won't let my toungue get tied
A silent voice in the congregation
I refuse to live a lie
[Chorus]
Can't keep me silent
Can't keep me silent
Can't keep me silent
Can't keep me silent
Can't keep me silent
Can't keep me silent
Well I guess, it's human nature
How people out talk eachother
But then, we face the danger
Of only listening to ourselves
In the pressure of the situation
I won't let my toungue get tied
A silent voice in the congregation
I refuse to live a lie
[Chorus]
Thats what I think about when I hear it anyway.
my boyfriend is so messy!
i just arrived here at his apartment and seriously, the place is gross.
he has improved quite a bit since he met me... but i surprised him and he wasn't expecting me so the place is nasty.
I'm sorry to report that it doesn't get much better, at least for me anyway.
I'm a neat freak (the guy who pulls the frige, stove, washer and dryer out every 6 months to clean behind) married 6 years to a messy person and she has slightly improved but is still a very messy person. LOL even when she eats, poor thing, all of her shirts have a food stain on them. I'm always pick up dirty cloths everywhere, find shoes under the couch, soda cans in cloths drawers, ect.
what in your opinion is the funkiest of the funky when it comes to food?
some of my picks:.
dinty moore stew.
You think the pigs feet are bad . . .
. . . the Wal-Mart here sells whole pig heads.
Wrapped in a plastic bag with eyes, ears, nose and park of the neck is the entire pig head.
if your jw family members were hurt by someone physically, or financially (ripped off), emotionally or otherwise would you feel sympathy for them and help them?
I do
My in-laws, who don't call or write because we are irregular, don't hesitate to call to borrow money from us. Every single one of my JW In-Laws (out laws) have borrowed $ from us. Anytime they call I answer Plummet's Bank.
In fact one called just last night, we didn't have the $ to lend so he stooped down to calling his youngest sister, 15 y.o., to borrow the money.
I hate to lend them the money but it shows that we were there for them even though they can't and will not be there for us.
Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergancy on my part
what was the starngest local needs topic you ever heard???
?
Gum
He said that we should not chew gum in service, at the kingdom hall or at the assemblies. I remember that they used the example of a saleman and how would you respond to them if they were chewing gum like a cow. I don't remember what else was said because after that I was visualising a cow blowing bubbles. Public Radio Public radio is a tool of the Devil and should not be listened to by true christians. Dress and Grooming We had a lot of Local Needs on Dress and Grooming, luckily many of the sisters ignored the warnings.
i recently had a discussion with a witness friend (i'm a secret) and she claimed that witnesses only get disfellowshipped for being unrepentant for immoral acts.
i am curious to know from those who have been disfellowshipped, what was it for?
I was DFed for immorality
i have the full complement of body parts and organs including my tonsils, appendix, foreskin and 32 teeth.. is anybody else as complete as me?
any funny stories on missing body parts?
exploding appendix, foreskin stuck in a zipper etc.....
No Appendix
No Gall Bladder
No Wisedom Teeth
I never had my tonsils removed, but I can't find them either. I am just getting over an unexplained sore throat that i've had for about three weeks now and I can't find my tonsils.
what always strikes here on jwd is the number of posters who completely and entirely doubt the jw theology, reject the majority of the teachings and "rules", express their boredom and frustration at having to attend meetings and conventions and yet, still, continue to keep up the facade of attending the meetings, going out in service, essentially choosing to 'live a lie'...... now, i understand fully the complications around leaving such an organization especially concerning family, but, for gods sake people, it would take the most extreme, extraordinary circumstances to keep somebody inside a duplicitous, controlling cult when at any time, you do have the freedom to just walk away.......we are all free moral agents capable of escaping the wts so i humbly ask, .
1) how and why do you keep up the facade?
do your circumstances really justify lying to yourself and family?.
Good use of Illustrations
I love the Band-Aid, the investment and SpiderWeb examples. I have never really thought of leaving the borg like that. Like walking away from a 17 year old investment, something that I had put time, research, effort, money, sweat, blood and tears into. Something that I kept investing in because of the big payoff in the end.
Thank you for that.
