How to Debate an Evolutionist (if you must)

this thread is primarily directed to biblical creationists and other non-evolutionists here (as such no or limited responses will be given to evolutionist posts here).

please if you are a non-evolutionist attempt to refrain from debating evolutionists here on this thread, as they will likely try to derail any learning, or exposure of their tactics.

i will try to avoid debating here but instead posting information in a series of posts.. i consider myself to be an informed biblical creationist and probably one of more experienced creation/evolution issue debaters to have been on this forum.

You have hit on the one inequity that I see time and again in debate between evolutionists and creationists.

Evolutionists are scientifically allowed to have HUGE gaps in their ability to explain the "how" of evolution, the "why" of evolution, and even the "who," "what," "when," and "where" of evolution and are permitted to say, "Those explanation gaps will eventually be filled in as we gain more knowledge and understanding."

However, evolutionists refuse to allow creationists the same latitude. The inequity of this state of affairs is comical, in my opinion. I have found that pointing up this inequity is a great debate tool.

You may have associated with Jehovah's Witnesses for some time. If so, you have likely noticed that all Jehovah's Witnesses are engaged in this life-saving work of baptizing. (1 Peter 3:21) As you have studied with Jehovah's Witnesses, you have no doubt heard talks discussing the importance of baptism.

You might have reached a point where you feel motivated to baptize others. However, you may find in your life some customs or beliefs that would be inappropriate for a person presenting themselves to the public as a qualified unbaptized baptizer of Jehovah's Witnesses.

It is our heartfelt desire that you fully understand what God requires of you before you begin to baptize others. Your Bible study conductor will be happy to share with you these reasonable requirements, and the local elders can meet with you when you feel you are ready to personally engage in the most important work we have in this time of the end, that of calling people to repentance and baptism. (Acts 2:38)

Obviously, Jesus did not intend for Matthew 28:19, 20 to apply to unbaptized people.

yes, the fairly new bible teach book contains some info in the appendix, but do witnesses include that in the study?.

Rosalee: Everyone has the freedom to choose to accept or reject the message.

If they do not KNOW what they are accepting or rejecting, they choose from ignorance.

Within the book Pay Attention to Yourselves and to All the Flock are many procedures and organizational policies that are not published anywhere else and to which women are never supposed to have access. Men can only have access after appointment as elders, long after baptism. Once you are baptized it is moot whether or not you knew about these policies and procedures beforehand. You are held accountable to them whether or not you knew them.

choosing life: They absolutely conceal their doctrines until someone is well along in their studies. How many of us would have gone to the door and talked to just anyone about the blood issue or that jws are the only true religion? No, we lured people in with a paradise earth and never having to die. We saved the real truth until later.

Hm. This gives me an idea. Why can't we get dressed up one Saturday and go in field service, spreading the true doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses from door-to-door and in the streets?

That would be a good black-propaganda move.

We could tell nothing but the unvarnished truth about the JW doctrine, explaining to people that Jesus is NOT the mediator for all mankind, how sad it makes us to know that most of our neighbors and many of our family members are going to die at Armageddon if they don't become Jehovah's Witnesses, how happy we are that the world has never been worse off than it is right now (and try hard to get them to agree) proceeding to the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses are the happiest people on earth (try to get them to agree, again), how reliant we are on the direction of the Governing Body—without whom we would have no truth.

I think that is just a grand idea.

The Dawkins Deception (bogus reasoning on the "improbability" of God)

recently i carefully read (and highlighted) chapter 4 of richard dawkins book "the god delusion".

dawkins argument is meant to show that "there almost certainly is no god".

his reasoning (taken from various points on different pages by myself) is basically as follows:.

Your arguments fail to address Dawkins' main point -- that is , that any Creator God (such as imagined or described to us by traditions or "holy" books like the Bible) would have to be superior to and more complex than his creation.

So.... From where did this complex God come from? If such a deity just popped up out of nowhere, it would prove life could pop up out of nowhere.

This is the main thrust of Dawkins' argument. It presumes a complex God originated at all. In doing so, its premise is spoiled. As to the origin of everything tangible, both deists and evolutionists agree, there was one.

Beyond the tangible, science cannot touch except in the hypothetical. Dawkins' attempts to demonstrate the implausibility of God by applying tangible constraints to the intangible. Before analyzing the spirit realm or the pausibility of any inhabitants thereof, he must intellectually credit its existence. Once he has done that, he must stop analyzing because he is not capable of stating any rules governing that realm. Yet, he does not stop there. He pretends to know rules that govern a realm of existence he does not even believe exists.

It is Dawkins, in this case, who suffers from myopia common to any human who tries to prove or disprove elements of the spiritual through a philosophical method designed to analyze the tangible.

It isn't Richard's fault that God doesn't fit inside Mr. Dawkins near field of vision and it certainly isn't the fault of God.

This was also true of first century Christians. For instance, when the apostles were ordered to stop preaching, they did not cave in to the high priest and other authority figures who were part of the Sanhedrin. They did not abandon right conduct in order to conform to human authority.

And, for instance, when Paul encouraged outright resistance to instructions coming from representatives sent from James in Jerusalem.

i know this subject has been talked about over and over, but since i'm new to jwd and the truth about the truth, i wanted to find out for myself if the reason the society claims they got a library pass and became and ngo was legit.

so i sent an email to the un.

cameo-d: By signing on as an NGO they explicitly agreed in writing "to uphold the UN Charter".

By voluntarily applying to become an Associate member of the UN/DPI they explicitly agreed in writing "to uphold the Principles of the UN Charter." The Principles (Article II) require upholding the Purposes (Article I) and also require acceptance of international remedy under Chapter VII of the Charter. Both of these sections include language that no loyal JW could ever uphold, or even condone.

It is just amazing to me how conceited the religion I left really was. While I was a JW I would have thought the UN regularly discussed their chief opponent, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., world Headquarters for Jehovah's Witnesses.

The UN/DPI had no idea who they were. They would never have allowed an organization so openly opposed to the objectives of the UN to join the DPI, if they had known.

The upshot is, there is no way to accidentally apply as an Associate member to the UN/DPI. There was no need to do so in order to access records archived there by the UN. No one on duty in Fall, 1991 would have told Ciro Aulicino that he had to apply for Associate membership and endure a three to six month approval process prior to receipt of membership credentials. No one accidentally filed further paperwork every couple of years to maintain this Associate membership. The names of two Governing Body members (at the time) were not accidentally included as secondary contacts on the paperwork, their names were not offered in this capacity without their knowledge and approval.

The organization has grandly deceived the small percentage of their flock who know about this issue and believe their cover story into thinking that they just made a "Whoopsie!" Well, I'd like to know when the discretion part of Faithful and Discreet Slave can be expected to kick in.

You explanation was perfect. It was the fact that they voluntarily joined that made this a voluntary disassociation from the Christian faith, according to the second paragraph under "Disassociation" in both Organized to Do Jehovah's Will (2005) and Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry (1983).

The only questions that really need to be answered to see their hypocrisy are:

(1) Is the United Nations Department of Public Information a secular organization that has objectives contrary to the JW understanding of the Bible and that the Governing Body say is under judgment by Jehovah God?

(2) Did the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. voluntarily join that organization?

If the answer to both these questions is correct they used a cheating pair of scales in forming and maintaining this voluntary membership.
