  some questions for someone really clued up on the ngo scandal:

  who was the pr when the society first applied to be an ngo in 1992....milton henschel?

  when did don adams become the president of the wts?

  Del, I agree. But unfortunately it is also much more difficult to prove to the average Witness. With the issue of them joining the UN/DPI, all you have to do to acquire proof directly from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses (CCoJW) is write an inquiry about it to the headquarters. It is critically important that those who talk about this issue differentiate between the UN and the UN/DPI.

  The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. joined the UN/DPI, not the UN. The CCoJW can truthfully answer any allegations of joining the UN with, "We didn't do that." Also, it makes us out to be liars if we say they joined an organization they didn't join.

  My dad asked, "Is the UN/DPI and organization?"

  DUH!

  Then he asked, "Did they really join the UN/DPI?"

  According to the DICTIONARY, I'd have to say, DUH!

  Then he said, "But they stopped, didn't they?"

  DUH! They got caught with their neutrality pants down, a large chunk of "spiritual armor" missing, and then pulled their pants back up. Of course, the problem is they are failing to admit that their neutrality pants were ever down, even though there are snapshots of the event that are freely available.

  yaddayadda, the "annual report" was a report of how well an NGO has met the criteria within the past year, produced by the NGO and submitted to the committee that determines whether the effort merits continued Associate status to the UN/DPI.

  The "annual accreditation form" is a form attached to this "annual report" that is eventually submitted to the committee. It is basically an annual request to retain Associate status. Based on materials annually submitted the committee determines whether to maintain a given organization as an Associate (i.e. subordinate organizational member).

  I'm not so sure we should rule out the possibility of some natural means of making sure our telomeres stay long and healthy.

  However, given the rate of deforestation vs. the rate of research on properties of plants in the rain forests and their required habitats, I think it is likely that if the tree of life exists it will become a part of some house, several books, and quite a lot of cocktail napkins before we find it.

  Any discussion of the tree of life should also include the fact that many cultures have a legend of a tree of life. This doesn't bolster the factuality of the Genesis account, it weakens it considerably. Other tree of life myths have at least some heroes who find the tree, apparently Moses didn't know any of those guys or gals.

  I have to laugh when people say the Bible is the oldest book because it goes all the way back to the creation of man. I could start a religion tomorrow that does that, it wouldn't grant me aged status.

  1914—How Is It Arrived At? (Daniel 4)

  the only chronology in the bible tying anything to 1914, according to jehovah's witnesses, is found in daniel 4.. 1914how is it arrived at?.

  assumption #1: luke 21:24 is referring to nebuchadnezzars dream as related in daniel 4, and that indicates a future fulfillment of daniel 4.. assumption #2: the second fulfillment of nebuchadnezzars dream relates to something entirely different than the initial fulfillment.. assumption #3: the seven times of daniel 4 means seven years.. assumption #4: the seven years dont mean seven years, they mean seven years of years, where each day of each year equals one year.. assumption #5: the seven years of years dont mean seven years of years, they mean seven years of prophetic years, where each day equals 360 days.. assumption #6: jerusalem was destroyed in 607 b.c.e.. assumption #7: we should add (7 times x 360 years of 365 (or 366) days each) 2,520 years to 607 b.c.e.

  to arrive at 1914 c.e.

  dorayakii, WELCOME to this thread . Those are great points you raise. In every instance where the "rule" or "principle" should apply, it is stated in the Scriptures that it should apply.

  Nowhere do we find that the rule applies where there is no indication of its application. For instance, in Daniel 9 a Hebrew word is translated "weeks" but clearly refers to years. Does this mean there was nothing specifically in the text that would indicate that undersatnding? No.

  Strong's has this to say regarding the Hebrew word used for these weeks:

  Properly passive participle of H7650 as a denominative of H7651; literally sevened, that is, a week (specifically of years): - seven, week.

  (bold and underline, mine)

  Even here, when the "weeks" are actually "weeks of years" the text clearly states that. In the case of Daniel 4, nothing indicates "years of years." It simply isn't there. Again, thank you very much for your post. Excellent points.

  just started a new job, which is keeping me very busy.

  years ago just before my exit from "the truth" i had a chat with my father inlaw about changing and conflicting doctrines in the wt.. i happened to use the word wrong ....wow what a reaction i got.

  i was reamed out on the spot.they are not wrong...they are never wrong...... it is "new light" .

  in the next hour i could not get him to say or even think the"w" word.. it was very frustrating.

  did you ever go to the service group and be assigned to the different car groups.....and then....the sister that is assigned to go with you...decline and say...'i am just going by myself today and do my return vistits by myself'..... damn, i should have complained about that one!

  The truth is, I don't know you, but I know my God. If that day comes in my lifetime, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will be told, "Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." I don't know anything about e-watchman, but if they encourage what you two are doing in here I don't want to know anything about them. Fear mongerers are not my friends.

  Tyrone and Brother,

  I understand what you are saying. However, before on could be accused of speaking against "God's people," there would need to be some indication they are God's people. There is none. From the pagan origins of the organization right down to the failed prophecies within the last decade, Jehovah's Witnesses have never been "God's people."

  So, in my case, your cautions fall on stopped ears because my family is still tuning their ears in to the ticklish words of these vile serpents and wicked soothsayers. I would welcome the (figurative) ruins and ashes of the bOrg.
