hey all, i received this in email today at work.
i always find these remember things funny, 70's or 80's.... but as i was reading this list, it got me thinking about some of the things i don't truly remember (okay, i remember but they were no-no's) because of my jw enforced childhood.
so here's the list with some of my comments:.
Angharad, I remeber those friendship bands - i never had one for two reasons.
1. I'm a dude and wouldn't be caught dead wearing one
2. I was JW, so I didn't have friends
I'm probably defining myself as a top level geek, but does anyone remember Dungeons and Dragons?

i've come upon a rather perplexing problem .
my wife, who became a jw after we married, recently decided to help me to understand how i am actually worshipping christmas and thus all sorts of terrible false gods.. this caught me so off guard i was unable to mount a good defense.
we just ended up fighting.. her case is the following:.
Here's my take on it.
It all comes down to how devout she is. You said she converted after you were married, therefore she wasn't raised in the 'truth'. She has experienced Christmas - she knows what it's about.
Bottom line is that Christmas is a season of giving and happiness, and witnesses hate that. They are a miserable and sad group of people who are secretly convinced they aren't good enough for anything. The only thing that makes them happy is to see the misery of others because they can twist it to fulfill their pitiful predictions.
If she secretly wants to celebrate you'll be able to talk her into it.
If she really really believes what they're telling her nothing you say or do will change her mind on the subject.
Their arguments don't stand up to scrutiny and logical thinking, so hopfully they haven't crippled those qualities in your wife and she'll see throught their bull.

How about rainbow colored hair (ala Cindi Lauper)?
I used to have one of those 'Miami Vice' style suits - fortunately no photographs exist.
Mony, those cargo pants are a total rip off of 80's fasion. I guess it's only a matter of time for bike shorts and fanny packs to come back.

Ahhhhhh, the memories come flooding back!
I still have my rubik's cube - unsolved on my dresser.
I don't remeber many of the 'toons cause TV was banned in our house.
Does anyone remember parachute pants (with a dozen zippers all over the legs)?

the responses to the post got me thinking about other books that have affected me.
what books have had an impact on your life?
'The Celestine Prophesy' was very enlightening and thought provoking, unfortunately I can't remember the author right now.
Since y'all brought up King, I'll have to say 'Insomnia'. I loved that book - all three times I read it.
'Shogun' by James Clavel and 'Battlefield Earth' by L. Ron Hubbard are both good reads - I wouldn't say they changed my life, but both of them are excelent stories.

I've always been a pretty good speller, but I have trouble knowing what word goes where.
So I took a course at "The Weller School of Grammar".
I learned a gooder way of speaking for others to understanding me best.
It has made a really better difference in my talk.
You too can learned to talk gooder with the "Weller Grammar Program", just like I.
It's easy and funner when you can use best words rightly.
Give it a try!
If you can't be better happy, they will giving your money back freely.
When more many peoples learned the "Weller Grammar Program" they would better like to teach them in the schools for kids to speaking with better grammar too.
Then most people can speak weller and no more trouble having we on how to use words bestest.
about three years ago my future husband suggested i read a book by robert heilein called, job: a comedy of justice".
i reccommend this book to everyone and anyone that has been in any religion.
it is quite an amusing, but disturbing story about a minister that keeps being put into different lives.
Robert Heinlein wrote another book called "Stranger in a Strange Land" that played with religion in a comical way.
To make a long story short and not give anything away: An earthling born on mars is brought home and later starts his own religion.
His endeavors and misunderstandings about human nature make for some humorous situations. A very good read.
can anyone define clearly where exactly we are at in our various campaigning activities against the wtbts from an overall sociological perspective?.
is it the case, that presently under current tactics, we are not doing all that we could be doing to get the society to change their direction upon certain key issues?
i'm not knocking the worthwhile jobs that many are doing, i'm just questioning the effectiveness of current rating of status quo.. what more could we be doing as a body of campaigners?

one of my favourite books is still revelation, so much dramatic scenery and awesome events, cascading symbols of events.. what was your favourite book of the bible and why?.

I'm noticing a trend here.
With the exception of Revelation and Siegswife's mention of the gospel, nobody has mentioned anything from the new testament.
Is it just me, or is the second half of the bible so farfetched as to be boring?
