  I'm stuck in limbo, what to do?

  if you don't know my past i'll paraphrase: basically, i got away from the dubs, but their teachings, dogma, doctine, mindset still have grips on aspects of my life.

  i just can't let some of it go.. i was raised in the "truth" and left because i wanted a life of my own.

  i didn't have doubts about their teachings, but resolved myself to die at the big a so i could have a real life now.

  does anyone know when the dateline program discussing jw's and pedophelia is going to air?.

  last i heard was 'in november', i've been looking for it, but havn't seen anything yet.

  where can one find faith?

  in an earlier post larsguy said the bible wasn't written for the layperson, but only for serious scholars and followers of christ.. .

  ...you imagine the bible is supposed to be a nice easy book without complexities to confound people, when in fact, if you actually read the bible you'd know that is precisely the case.. the bible is meant for christ and his followers specifically and not for outsiders!.

  didn't you read in scripture when the disciples asked jesus why he spoke in parables that he told them that these secrets were for them and so that the outsiders, looking in vain, would not understand?.

  Heaven? Hell?

  i was asked the other day whether i believed in heaven and/or hell, and i almost started spouting jw doctrine before i stopped myself and really pondered the question.. it's a different world when you have to start thinking for yourself instead of letting the organization think for you.

  when i left the jw's, i pretty much left religion in general, i dont consider myself agnostic, but i question everything religious i was ever taught.

  from "does god exist" to "evolution", "faith", "death", everything i "knew" is under suspicion now.. so back to the topic, the witnesses teach: there is heaven, but only 144,000 get to go, there is no hell, only non-existance upon our death.

  Other worldy religions

  i am going to look up some of the worlds non-christian religions, not as a seeker, or out of a need to change beliefs, but from an educational perspective.

  i have been interested in what people belive for a while, but have never taken this step before.

  i guess what i'm asking is if anyone else has looked up other religions and what have you found?

  My life as a JW

  hello all, i don't know if this is the right place to post this, but i need to get it out.. i'm new to the board (registered today), and here's my story:.

  born into the "truth" so to speak, my parents just started studying after i was born.

  after the 1975 prophesy failed my father slowly distanced himself from the org.

  confused

  i left the jw's 11 years ago and even though i never looked back i'm constantly concerned about the things i do.

  for example, my wife's family is fairly devout in their faith (catholic) and therefore i occasionally have to attend their church, and i am always riddled with guilt upon entering and participating in the services.

  also, every time some calamity occurs around the world i am always wondering if "this is the beginning of the end"?
