  Maybe if she is a mom and is totally inundated with day to day work, chores etc, you could get her something TOTALLY frivilous. Like bath stuff, or some pricey perfume she has been eyeing but doesn't want to splurge on.

  My "life" seems to come and go in waves. Right now I'm sittin here alone with some wine putting off grading. Say something to motivate me to get to work!!!
  
  Tomorrow I might go to a exJW meetup in Phoenix -eek! I'm a little nervous. Might meet an exJW that can't make it to the meetup for some coffee beforehand.

  The New Kadampa Tradition - Can anyone tell me about this?

  i have a question i hope those who are familiar with the practice of buddhism can help me with.

  after several years of reading about eastern religious philosophy, i've decided to go a step further and seek direct instruction in buddhist meditation and practice.

  i live too far away from a major city to regularly attend the many choices of meditation classes available there.

  I go to a NKT buddhist group here in Arizona. They are a good group- the new kadampa part refers to the fact that they seek enlightenment for the benefit of OTHERS rather than just themselves. Perhaps that's why they are agressive about fundraising for more temples.
  
  I did not know about the controversy with the dalai lama. that is too sad, but I imagine it might be because they have decided not to bring any gurus or teachers from Tibet because they feel that people will blindly follow someone JUST BECAUSE they are Tibetan, rather than because they are teaching good things.
  
  Kelsang Gyatso learned english to write all of his teaching in because he felt that now is the time for Buddhism to come to the western world and it is more beneficial for us to learn the actual words of the chants and prayers rather than to hear them in a foreign language we don't understand.
  
  I am not a true blue believer, but I really enjoy these classes. I am thinking of looking into Zen Buddhism as I think it is more along the lines of what I actually believe.

  i had to take late movies back tonight and they were so late the store had called and told me they were charging me for them.

  so i called them back and asked if it was too late because i did not want to buy these movies.

  well, the store manager said no, just bring them in.

  Do you get stressed talking to JWs?

  i am a salesman, so will talk to anyone, anytime without fear.

  but for some reason, everytime i need to speak to a jw i get a huge rush of nerves.. i also am an accountant and do tax returns, and this year lost most of my jw clients.

  some went to another accountant in the congregation.

  I would rather have a boyfriend who had the free will to choose to be with me. Relationships mean more that way.
  
  And, as I am god-like in my actions after many years of following along at the kingdom hall, I would KILL HIM if he decided to leave me.
  
  haha. just pointing out that if a god made people, it would be good for them to have free will- buuut, that whole destroying cause of disobedience is a crock.

  The Loved Up Thread [Fluff]

  it might have escaped your notice but sirona and i are totally in love and seem to have a mutual appreciation society thing going on; however this has not taken place without causing some online problems as some of you might be aware.. both dawn (sirona) and i are conscious that we have hijacked a number of threads given our perpetual state of being loved up.

  given the untold frustration we might have caused to some posters we have decided to launch our very own jwd loved up thread.. this hopefully should allow threads to go on being productive without the frustration of people (us) whispering online sweet nothings and flirting and we therefore invite you all to use this thread if you are loved up, have similar mutual appreciation societies or simply wish to flirt with other online posters.

  you can even use this thread to dedicate a post to someone who isnt online and who just lightens your life and makes you smile.. please join us and reassure us that we are not the only loved up people on jwd.. .
