so all of you that are trying to help your family and friends as a disassociated person, or disfellowshipped, or sort-of-shunned.. what do you think about getting reinstated or reactivated to help them get out?.

the time invested would be two meetings a week, about 6 hours total including driving.

for those on the outside, you would have to get reinstated, so you would need 2-3 months of going to meetings making sure the elders see you and know your intention.. add field service in there.

Well- it seems to be working for you- your posts on that subject are always interesting to read and I root for you.

But-- what if you really want to do things that you just CAN'T do as a witness?? What if you fell in love with the girl at the coffee store? What if you had a passion for evolutionary biology and wanted to start university before you are out of your thirties? What if you wanted to publish awesome graphic art novels and your content was totally taboo according to the society? What if you'd rather die than run into co-workers at the door out in service?

You can't follow any of your desires because of your self-imposed imprisonment to the WTS. But if your only one desire is to get your family and friends out then you are doing what is important to you and are following the best path.

Your tactic is good but cannot work for many people. I am rooting for you!

Honors classes "puff you up with pride"

in us public schools, they used to have special classes for gifted students.

all students would be tested for academic achievement and iq, then placed in "gifted classes" with parental permission.. in my kingkongregation, parents would not give permission because it would make the children arrogant and later leave the trooftm.

it would also mean more time studying worldlytm subjects than necessary.. and if the student is female, oh hell no, she wasn't getting into the gifted courses, no way, no how!

elder snooping on facebook

my dad rang me last night really upset coz he had decided to go on facebook under a fake name to see what some people were up to in his hall and while he was there he decided to type my name in and he did not loike what he saw ie low tops short skirts the ex jw groups im on and also the night out i went on last sat with our very own sirona (a known apostate who apperently 'ruined my faith' according to my family).

anyway he's coming tonight to help me deactivate my account and i'm not going to he knows i dont want the 'truth' so why is he still trying to control me?.

and also like i pionted out these people hes checking out will not be happy hes been snooping and he can't see it just thinks he is helping them?.

mmm. On Facebook you have to actually give the person permission before they can even see your page. Why would you give someone you didn't know permission? You can't just sign up and look throught eveyones stuff.

Yes-- the GATE class. Gifted And Talented Education.

I was in GATE and most kids in my class thought it was cool that I and some others got to go. The witness kids were like "oooo, you think you're cool in your nerd class? You going to a big college...??"

My mom enjoyed that I got to go to GATE and my dad did too as he was never a dub. I am not sure if my mom got flack from the JWs at the Hall for my going to that class.

about two weeks ago i was having lunch at an establishment that has tables set up on the outside (actually a sidewalk) and as i was waiting for my order, i overheard two guys talking at the next table.

a homely guy who had a pretty girl on his arm brought this response.

Well, in your average congregation there are about the same # of male and female kids, so up til the age of 19 (when they go to bethel, right?) the numbers are even. If a feeewww go to Bethel then there are slightly more bros.
