  Do you do Christmas?

  this will be my first christmas.

  i'm not doing anything corny, no tree, no bigass fluoro santa.

  just joining my new (husband's) family at their xmas gig - tacky presents for the kids, lots of food, stories by the old folk.

  Yes this will be my first christmas but it's gonna be fantastic (I hope). It's weird that I don't feel guilty about celebrating it, I guess it's because I don't really view it as a religious celebration, all I see is lights, food and sparkly stuff! I've just bought a xmas cookbook and have already done 80% of my xmas shopping (not a difficult task when most of the people I know are JWs so they're off the list)

  I can't wait to experience what my parents always told me I'm "not missing"

  i pulled that from another topic because it reminded me of something my mother said to me just before i married my husband.

  first let me say that my mother doesnt like my husband.

  her dislike for my husband has tempered over the years but it's still there.

  I hold my hands up and admit that I married for that reason but then started 'fornicating' anyway so...

  Married out of terror of my parents in the end, maybe that's why it ended up only lasting 11 months

  Anyone for mischief?

  i grew up in east yorkshire and november 4th was mischief night.

  we would do all kinds of crazy things like removing peoples gates and hiding them, knocking on doors and running away - you know the kind of thing!

  the great thing was we never got into trouble, after all everyone knew it was mischief night and expected to get up next day and find their garden gnomes missing!!!.

  New tattoo on tuesday

  well, i've been wanting a tattoo for almost a year now.

  i wanted a raven picture, but couldn't find one i liked...the parlor showed me one that i absolutely loved.. i'm getting this tattooed on my wrist...what do ya think of it?.

  Yeah getting that little bit of individuality feels good doesn't it? After a life-time of conforming and dressing 'down' it's nice to let yourself shine through finally. Incidentally, where did you get the design for it from?

  I know exactly how you feel poppy, I felt exactly the same when I first found this site, that feeling of 'yeah there's something in this' followed by an immediate 'I'm letting apostate thinking into my mind!' All you can do is read, research and find what's right in your own heart.You can still have a belief in God and in my view, you can still worship and have a relationship with Him without being involved in any kind of organisation. I always think of how personal your faith is and how no-one has the right to direct it.

  I hope you find some clarity, the same that I'm also searching for but I imagine it's a long road, it's a good job we've somewhere like this to go, eh?

  just wondering, is the person who studied with you still an active dub?.

  in a poll with a few of my friends, all who studied with either us or our parents are now not considered dubs.

  I didn't get the choice as I was raised in it, but the couple who brought my parents in are still active JWs although less righteous and a little jaded these days...who could blame them

  What reaction would you have had from the Witnesses back then if.......

  what reaction would you have had from the witnesses if you would have told them, back then when you joined the org, that the year 2005 will come and go, and nothing that the jw's predicted will come to pass.....nothing?
