I no longer feel like life is a hopeless mess. Of course, it was changing my outlook on life which changed my standing towards the "truth."

Do you view life differently since you quit the JW Org?
by JH in.
where are your priorities now?
or do you just live life one day at a time, without worrying about anything.

The Bottom Line
by feelinsketchy innot long ago i saw a post to the effect that the writer just doesn't care anymore about the dubs.
i understand perfectly.
i'll go a step further by saying that although i care about the damage caused by the borg to individuals and families, every experience is important and no doubt painful, for me there is something that hits me to the core.. the more important (to me anyway) work that is being done by this board and others like it is to proclaim (sorry about the language) that this group advocates the violent destruction of all except those that get to all the meetings and put in ten hours a month.

2 areas of appeal:
1. The hope of earthly paradise. This is the one that gets the suckers; the ones who are constantly dumbstruck by the complexities of civilization and embody their fear of the unknown with delusions of a devil.
2. Social benefits. Perhaps this is the first time someone has felt acceptance; they are welcomed, invited; they make several new friends to go along with their new religion. If they don't make friends inside the org. they will not last long. Religions more often today resemble the social communities of yesteryear in what they offer: recreation, economic, emotional connections allowing its adherents to build social capital. This is a huge appeal - a perfect one to complement the former, since this is what really gets people to the meetings. -

by ffoeg inthe place is in the wilderness, the thing acting as a restraint is the face of the serpent.. .
how does someone gain access to the actual temple of the god and further yet, how is he able to lift himself up above everyone who is called god?.
god's spirit-directed organisation ---- (the man) ----------------- a god?.

At the Circuit Assembly the DO actually mentioned how the world continuing testified to Jehovah's patience... I tried to comprehend how he could think this way when it has been clearly stated that Jehovah does not move his date and that it if fixed, etc.
Oh, and here's another juicy quote from the DO: "3 to 5% divorce rate in the congregation? Not acceptable." -

Is this a "scandal"? Does it have anything to do with news? Am I the only one irritated and confused by this random post?

Interesting. Although this is probably one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while: "God created things to show that they were created, so that we would worship Him and not the creation."

January Kingdom Ministry -The Number 1 book -Bible Teach
by stillajwexelder inthe january kingdom ministry has two study articles and the the whole insert - all about how the what does the bible really teach is now the number 1 teach aid - no longer the knowledge book.
in fact the instructions in one of the sm items is to switch to the teach book as soon as possible with our bible studies.
it will be the offer in march and of course is being studied in book groups after the daniel book.

"I think the Knowledge book was dumbed down too much in some areas and not enough in others. This book is dumbed down consistently.
Blondie"
Very true. I think they are realizing you only need 1 dumb pubiclication to rope in the gullible - the Require Brochure. Also, books turn off those type of people anyway.
The Bible Teach publication actually does NOT pre-suppose that the reader already holds a reverence for God and the Bible - a HUGE leap for the Society. Of course, they eventually revert to their own circular logic, non-existant evidence, and warped reasoning in explaining what the Bible means.
The very title "what does the Bible TEACH" is a very telling one. A lot like "what does God REQUIRE of you?" These are questions that jump right in to how we should apply the Bible in our life. They automaticaly frame the argument and omit a lot of tough arguments such as, "who decided what texts were included and why we can be confident that these are the right ones." -

My wife caught me and in bed!!!!!!
by evergreen innew that would catch your attention.. yes its true folks , my wife caught me in bed reading notes that i had written down about raymond franzes book crises of conscience.
she is a staunch follower of the borg and i have now been inactive for about 2 years.. i wrote about 30 pages of notes from this book as the only place i could get my hands on one was from the library.
i couldnt order one as i was so afraid of her finding out i was reading "apostate " material.. she asked me what i was reading and said it was er just some notes i had written .

On the other hand - if she DOES go to the elders it may turn out to be a good thing, as she sees their reaction. After all, elders have a knack for stumbling people.

Perhaps he is posting his picture because it's really not his picture. -

Head honcho of the GB
by loosie inok i know that the governing body no longer has a president so to speak.
but is there one of them who takes the lead?
i hear a lot talk here about ted jacaraz.

They made the seperation of Governing Body and all legal entities in October, 2000, at the annual meeting. At the meeting, Dan Sydlik mentioned that it was the biggest organizational change in 30 years. There are no oficial titles of any of the GB members such as president, vice president because these jobs were handed to other higher-ups at that time.
