No wonder he wouldn't let him see his daughter. Just look at him.

If there's some good in the Watchtower, why leave it?
by AlmostAtheist inthe post about crisis of conscience in which the poster said he knows there's some bad in the watchtower (as brought out in coc), but there's some good in it too got me to wondering about people that stay for the good in it.. the united states makes some decisions as a country that i don't agree with, perhaps even object strongly to.
but i don't disavow my citizenship.
it's mostly a good place to live, so i stay.. if you want to live in a way that utterly conflicts with the watchtower -- homosexual, multiple sex partners, smoking, whatever -- then you have reason to leave.

It's also called: "A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down."
Now I'm gonna go watch Mary Poppins to see what other WT propoaganda is hidden in there!!!! ARG!!

Its about the enablers, not the abuse It's about the coverups not the crime
by avishai inthis was a phrase spoken by a woman on abc news tonight, re: the catholic sex abuse scandal.
i love this phrase, especially when applied to the jw's and their spokesmen's regular denials that they had anything to do with the abuse.
no, they did'nt order their members to molest children.

This is classic way for corporations or bureauracies to try to protect themselves. It's really not rational, but they always do it anyway: to cover it up and proclaim their innocence instead of simply admitting they were at fault and fixing the problem. Admitting fault would increase their legal liability and cost them $$$,$$$,$$$.

I have the feeling that rather soon that will cost me my 'privilege' of being an elder. And I think it will be a big relief!
They call it a "privilege" in the same way Mary Poppins calls cleaning up the nursery a "game." TRICKSTERS!

When you were in, did you have the Watchtower study underlined?
by asilentone inwhat happens if you don't?
did they treat you differently?.

Unwritten rule of JWism: If you don't have your WT underlined you are a LOSER ( -30 points). But you can easily redeem yourself next Sunday meeting by writing scriptures in the margins ( + 120 points).

Mockery is one of the most powerful weapons against the WTS. Afterall, mockery got Yahwehs goat so bad, he had a bear eat a bunch of kids!!! If God let's his true self show in the face of mockery, how much more so will the Gliberring Buddies?

The Last Warning
by cameo-d indid i read somewhere that wt is putting out "the last warning"?.
was it assembly topic or something?.
does this mean they will shut up now?.

One thing is clear, they desperately need to freshen up their end-times doctrine to continue to beat the drums. People don't care about stuff like global warming being a sign o the times. Bro' Prince could release his latest album and stir up more anticipation than that.

Would a definite article prove that Jesus is God?
by solafide infrom what i've studied of jw's, john 1:1 is interpreted as "and the logos was (a) god".
therefore, because there is no definite article in john 1:1 for example, one supposedly cannot confirm that jesus is referred to as "the god".
so my question for the jw is "what if jesus were reffered to with a definite article in the nt"?

I mean Paul certainly had MANY chance to say, in plain Greek - Jesus is YHWH, he didn't, he said Jesus is all that YHWH is, he is of the same substance, God only begotten son, etc, etc, but never once did he say Jesus is YHWH, did he?
Maybe he didn't say it outright because he didn't want to "oversell" it. By sneaking it in through all sorts of similes and metaphors, Jesus indirectly took on godlike proportions. But to the Jews that would especially be distasteful, to hear someone pronouncing that this guy was Yahweh. Maybe Paul was trying, in his small way, to be politically correct?
