We need to have our resident JWs Spike and Reniaa chime in on this about "waiting on Jehovah" for judgment and the "two-witness rule." You know, to give us perspective on this.

District 9
by XJW4EVR insaw this movie saturday, and enjoyed very much.
though the anti-apartheid message was 20 years too late and just a tad heavy-handed.
the movie takes you one a journey in which an alien ship hovers over johannesburg, south africa.

Leave it up to reviewers to spoil what would otherwise have been a perfectly enjoyable entertainment experience.
Farkel
I'll most likely still see it, but I usually read reviews to at least get a feel for what I'm seeing these days. Trailers can be misleading.

This Bible passage has always bothered me.......

See how they behave in modern-day Iran, Iraq, etc: the open, publicly-accepted savagery, brutality, subjugation of women, the tribal fighting. Now imagine if the leaders of those tribes and "nations" wrote their own holy book. ---> That's what the Old Testament is.

I was all into it until I read a bunch of reviews and realized it didn't deal with actual hard science fiction ideas, but a parable about apartheid. Why would you construct a science fiction setting to do that? As Ebert brought out, that's just space opera. And the documentary style sounds a bit gimmicky... like Cloverfield.

Anyone heard of Watchtower policy change concerning pedophiles
by Robert_V_Frazier ini'm passing this along from someone else on another discussion board.
the claim of any substantive change in the policy on pedophiles is news to me.
can anybody verify or falsify this claim?.

Clever ploy to get sisters to monitor husband's internet use in today's WT
by Mickey mouse inin today's study watchtower there was, yet again, more demonization of the internet.
although the paragraph purported to be about guarding against pornography, it struck me that they are attempting to kill two birds with one stone here, without mentioning one of the birds by name.
here's a scan, check out paragraph 15:.

Is it wrong for the JW husband to look at naked pictures of his wife on the Internet? Would she still need to be sitting next to him, chaperoning him, while he looked at naughty pictures of her?
Ideally, she should sit on his lap, so as to impede the "growth" of any "inappropriate" "ideas". And if such "growth" should occur, he would be at no risk of "wasting his semen upon the earth" since the "wife of his youth" is right there at the ready.

As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey.
And they have no more authority now than they did then. Old men, telling other people how to live their lives by "speaking" for God. The shit never changes.

THIRTY PROOFS OF GOD'S EXISTENCE

we can never really prove or disprove the existence of god.
therefore, god exists.

Well I think it all just comes down to the fact that there things in life we cannot prove, and we'll never know the answer to. I try not to look down on those who believe in the duplicitous God of the Christian Bible, but if their faith keeps them from despair, crime, or suicide, then by all means let them have their faith.
