The times story said he was a MS in the mill Hill congregation, whats the betting he's a bethel boy?

And it also mentions the reason he has escaped jail is because so few were prepared to testify against him, what's the betting if they did it would be THEM who were shunned and disfellowshipped.

And can we have an elders comment? Last I heard a repeated offender could not be repentant! If you go back and do it again it proves you weren't sorry.

Cried myself to sleep last night

i was laying in bed and trying to drift off to sleep.

all of a sudden i had a vision of my father building our dining room table.

we moved when i was four and this was at our old house so i must have been pretty young.

Definitely something in the air, I've read many posts over the past few days about this sort of pain.

It's cruel, and even though we understand it, I think like an abused child, we somehow blame ourselves, because we know it makes them unhappy also.

Hang in there Unique1 its not personal, they do love you, it's brainwashing at it's most extreme, and you must get on with your life and find people who genuinely care.

this may be covered some where in the archives here, but came across this today on the internet.. 90 year old anna bedford owner of one of the great camps of the adirondacks (preserve at green bay, 135 acres) dies and somehow the society becomes the owner.

they sell for 2.250 million dollars in june of l988.. see the bottom of page 2. .

In my local area they have been saving (that is draining the rank and file dry) for the past 10 years for a new Kingdom Hall, even though they have downsized 4 congs into 3 cos of lack of growth.

Recently an old lady died, alone and with nobody and left them 200 thousand UK pounds (I think around 400,000 US) And my mum pipes up what a blessing, now they can build a hall

This hall, nobody needs, and how many people could benefit from that money.

I cannot BELIEVE they are studying that again! That book drove me nuts.

Welcome patient Bro, it's a tough time when the realisation first hits you, the waves of WTF wash over you for a long time and sometimes still do, but stay and be patient! And things will soon start making more sense.

My mom got disfellowshipped.

my mom called tonight to tell me that she got disfellowshipped!!!!.

of course to me this is like the greatest news ever and to her its the worst ever so i'm seriously having a hard time being sympathetic.

i just know this could mean she's out for good and it definately means i've got my mom back.

Congratulations!! I'm jealous.

I would say tread carefully, you may go in all guns blazing and find in 6 months she's back 'in', and your relationship with her is worse than ever, show her love and support and listen when she talks and nod. The org has it's claws in people and it takes a long time to get them out.

Bad Dream

4am in the uk, and i was jolted awake by a dream about my mother dying, she is not in good health.

i felt overwhelmingly sad that if this happens, she will die in sadness over me.

and also very upset because she is my mum and i want her to love me and be interested in my life and that just isn't the case any longer.. i realise i am 'luckier' than some on here because at least she speaks to me.

I realise I am 'luckier' than some on here because at least she speaks to me. But my whole family, (mother, two brothers, one sister) are JWs and all of my life long friends and it's lonely on the outside. I am feeling sorry for myself over friends whose parents and siblings are 'normal'!

Anyway, no doubt, when I eventually get back to sleep, I'll wake up on the other side of the bed and things will look brighter.

This religion is truly fucked up, and I long for just one of them to see it.

For those of you who have loved ones on the inside....

my wife is still on the inside.

sometimes i dont care about that or about the wtbts's nonsense.

and then some days, i wake up and i have all this anger inside.

Every one of my family members is on the inside, and it hurts very much. But as has been said, it does no good to burst.

Recently I couldn't hold it all in when my sister said something very pious to me about how she prayed I'd return, and I live to regret it, she hasnt' spoken to me since, and now there is a definite step even further away from the rest of the family because I am considered an apostate, simply because I told her that I had deliberately left the organisation and would on no account be returning.

Stay strong, stay loving, make real friends, it takes time and it's easy to let the bitterness take over, try not to let it.

I got a new job!!!

i had to tell someone, surprisingly not one of my witness family were interested even though i am not dad or dfd.. i went for and got a promotion at work today, i worked hard at my interview and am delighted with my new position.

the only people that cared were my boyfriend and two very close friends i have made since leaving the org.

it leaves me tinged with sadness, but those are the breaks!.

Can you tell a little about what interests you about your new position?

Hmm.. the money!

I work in a public library, and have done for the past 5 years, love the job, but since leaving the org have become very aware of the fact I have made no plans for the future, The only qualifications I have are work based ones I've done in the past few years. This position is still in the library but as Deputy Manager, it's a step up and at last I feel like I'm getting my life somewhere near to where it should have been had I not wasted so many years pioneering!

Thanks so much for all your good wishes, it means a lot.

Calling all Non-JW spouses of JW's or others in mixed marriages!!

in therapy yesterday, i came to the conclusion that i've either got to figure out how to live with my jw hubby or abandon ship.

i'm looking for stories here...successful mixed marriages, divorce stories and how you got there, all of it.

i need to figure out my breaking point and others' experiences, i'm sure, will give me insight!

In my experience it depends how much you love one another, if you are willing to put in the effort and make lots of compromises and so is your partner (vital!!) then you can make it work.

For myself, married for 14 years, I stopped going in the October, My husband moved out in the January saying I had 'changed' Obviously he was right, and it was only the witness mindset keeping us together, I dont regret my divorce as although I loved my husband, we had so little in common anyway, that when only one of us was a JW it became intolerable (for him, I was prepared to put up with it)

Interestingly the judge at my divorce said that he ruled my husband had behaved unreasonably, because although I was prepared to live and put up with his strange religious ways, he was not prepared to encouarge me in anything I wanted to do (career etc) I felt validated for the first time in a long time!

Nobody can tell you what to do, try and see, but make sure you are not doing all the compromising.
