my sister who is the ex wife of the fellow i posted about,( re: commiting suicide) was a jw for 17 years being df'd 4 years ago.
i have told her about this site and read to her the replies to the posts i have made and she has had a browse around but will not join yet as she does not have access to the internet, although she really loves the site.
she and i were talking this morning and thru me she would like to ask; does anyone here think it would get her anywhere if she were to sue the watchtower society for years of guilt and mental stress she and her late ex husband have suffered?

i remember when i was forced to go a few times in the past by my crazy mom, i used to sing my own lyrics as loud as i could... Profanities and all, then i got "counselled" by an elder, then i just stopped singing so loud... HA HA

Anyways, i know what youre talking about... i was one of the elders children, i was doing the watchtower counter, prayers, talks galore, watchtower readings, the whole shabang, except the whole time i was like WTF am i doing all this for....
then when i was asked to go to a meeting with the elders, i was like oh shoot, finally I'LL BE AN MS!!! but no, i was being reproved for going to university... i asked why i chouldnt go, and i got this response, these are the exact words, because they haunt me to this day: "BECAUSE IT MAY LEAD TO INDEPENDANT THOUGHT!"
I was flabbergasted, and at that moment, i decided never to set foot into a kingdom hall again.... They play games, and since i wasn't their white anglo-saxon ass kisser, i could never be an MS anyways... what a loss

in talking to a fellow ex-dub buddy of mine the other day, it occured to me that in many ways....witnesses could be living the life they expect to live in the new system.......but they don't.. in the publications we see picture after picture of smiling brothers helping each other frame each others new houses ....for free.
we also never see in the publications poor african people walking through aligator/ piranna infested swamps to get to a kingdom hall either in the new system.. .
the fact is......brothers hire brothers in this system to help build their new homes and are taught not to expect free labor, but to pay them as you would the next guy.. with regards to the poor africans.....and others...., the jehovahs witness organisation has enough money to see that fellow believers in poorer countries should not go hungry or be without a meeting place to worship in.
VERY GOOD POINT! i never thought of that... and youre right, they could be living lives much like their paradise and yet, they dont... hmmm, makes you think!!! they do believe in free labour though, just look at their missionaries, elders, ministerial servants, bethelites and many many other blind people who receive their precious "priviledges"....

the x jw dating site topic spurred me to check out the site for active jw singles.
my mother recently married a brother from germany that she met though one of those sites.
he is actually a pretty cool brother....for a brother, that is.. so i start looking for folks from my old cong in california and ran into a sisters profile that reads:.
this is so funny, im looking through these things and found some of my old "friends" ha ha, even some of the elders from my former congregation... HYPOCRITES i tell ya, HYPOCRITES!!!! this stuff is funny, i guess thats all i can say... FUNNY!

were you the kind that stayed up for hours the night before finding the perfect point and the perfect scripture...or were you the one that was hastily trying to through something together the morning of and panicking when you realized the circuit overseer was visiting.
and then there was me...i was lucky if i knew which magazines were "it" for that week, lucky if id read more than the first page, and developed a good deal of improve skill when that 25% "at home" rate popped up on my 1 door in 10. eeps.
im not sure if anyone realized just how seat of the pants my approach to field service actually was.
