most people who have any sustained contact with jehovahs witnesses soon discover that this organization is rather tough on certain types of plants.

it is easy to see that small forests have been sacrificed over the decades to make the multiple millions of publications for the evangelical work or that many plants that are commonly used for personal drug use are condemned, but most people dont know about a few lonely plants growing somewhere in california that really irk the witnesses.

these plants have a very interesting story to tell.

Post like yours can only help people interested in truth collect more of those "truth telling tools". As to the org influencing my thinking, they are out to lunch, in space, and way on the other side of the sun as concerns their credibility and truth telling abilities.

I find your post very interesting. If one is into finding out the "truth" about a particular subject then it takes the type of hard work and research I've seen you demostrate in this and other post. Good work!

I am, however, puzzled about a statement you made in this recent post.
You said;

"All these plants and much more solid geological evidence shows no global flood happened in 2370 BC or anywhere near then."

You see, it struck me as odd that based on the plants you have described you are holding it up as a "proof" that a global flood did not happen, other "solid geological evidence" notwithstanding.

Now, personaly, I take the Bible account of a global flood as a matter of faith. And, admittantly, there may not be enough "evidence" that a global flood did not happen that could convince me otherwise.

With that said, such "evidence" needs to be, at the least, reasonable.
Even the faithful must conceed to the Copernicus and Galileo type of evidence, if the faithful are to remain faithful to the ideals of truth, no matter how unsettling.

What I like to know is; Did you use your plant research and try to think of how the Creosote bush COULD have servived a year long global flood?

I ask because of my admitted convictions but also because i realy DO believe the truth is of extreem importance,( which is why I'm such a terible lier )

My concerns were:
1) Could the bush have servived on a small flotilla of wood, dirt, and other plants for a year?

2) Could their have been more than one flotilla?

3) Could very productive years have accellerated the growth and very cold years retard the growth?

4) Could the plant have adappted from a wet enviornment to a dry one over thousandands of years?

5) Are you willing to BELIEVE that these possibilities might be accurate.

Now, I'm no botanist. I'm ignorant about a lot of things, that's why I ask a lot of "stupid" questions, which is what got me into trouble with the borg "elder" drones. I believe, however, that "truth" MUST withstand ANY scrutiny, if it is to remain "truth". This is why I'm questioning the info you have submitted. I do this with a desire to come to a more complete understanding of the subject provided.

I respect your conclusions and enjoy your post.

A weird concept

i was just reading through the thread started by sirona.

thanks, btw, sirona, for providing the information in the awake magazine about the wtbts' take on the 9-11 tragedy... and for pointing out their crass capitalization of the event.. it occurred to me that i wouldn't pick up an awake or watchtower magazine or accept one if it was offered.

i'm intrigued and interested though if someone takes the time to make info contained in the mags available to illustrate a point or support an argument.. then i wondered:.

I think the borg masters would have a lot of trouble defending their Wretchtower and Asleep! magazines on the web due to the world wide scrutiny they would draw.

Every lie, every distortion, every misrepresentation would keep their legal dept. busy 24/7. All the false dates, false doctrines, misquotes and such would be there for immediate attack, and rightly so!

And remember, the borg mindcontrol works BEST one drone at a time. The pile of cow patties they use for truth would not be effective in a mass type conversion. Those who oppose borg lies could access the web and compare truth with wretchtower lies. That is why they don't use TV. Their brand of cult works best ONE DRONE AT A TIME.

WHERE THE CHILDREN PLAY

in this part of the country,i live in the bible belt(lucky me).anyway i`m driving down the street and there is church after church after church(they all have lots of windows)..ect..in the church parking lots are kids playing,road hockey,skate boards,roller blades,you name it they were playing it.laughing,having a good time,enjoying their lives.apperently the churchs dont mind the neighborhood kids playing in their yards.up the road on the same street is the kingdom hall.no windows,parking lot barecaded off with a chain link fence and large gate.the kids were playing in all the church yards but not this one,they were`nt welcome.i saw a couple of kids come out of the hall but they didnt look like they were having fun.some times life plays out in front of you and the truth is there for all to see.

bunch of inactives at old-timers party

last week-end there was a going away party for an old-timer.

i didnt attend but a brother related this interesting anecdote to me.. apparently a newer person who is progressing well in the truth noticed how many strangers were present at the gathering and asked what congregations they were all from.

he was surprised to learn that they all were all local brothers and sisters but werent attending meetings anymore.

Meanwhile, we'll just live out the rest of our grizzled old lives in king-like splendor, having our meals prepared for us, our living chambers kept clean for us, free vacations all around the world, midnight rendezvous with the girls AND boys, a city of slaves at our beck and call, and sombody to wipe our butts for us when we are not able to.

I think the borg masters got the better deal.

Don't cooperate with their SHUNNING you!

my dub sister planned this little event to see the lion king.

she invited my two other sisters and their families and purposely left me out.

when my family asked about me, she just shrugged her shoulders -- the little hypocrite couldn't "stumble" them by telling them she was shunning her own sister.

Talk about a Kodak moment! If ONLY you could have videotaped that scene of WARM CHRISTIAN LOVE, watchtower style, you could be rich selling it to the mass media for their cult awareness pieces.

But seriously, you did very good. You did NOT give in to the borg masters control mechanism. You showed them you do not pratice "spiritual abuse". I think this is evidence showing what a cult tool shunning can be. The other witnesses BACKED DOWN in lue of watchtower rules when you refused to give in and play the game. They were many, and you were ONE. Excellent odds!

This also showed that the conviction of who you are was a hundred times more powerful than the flimsy control mechanism of shunning instilled in them.

i've been able to maintain contact with a jw friend--even though i've been out of the organization for over 20 years.

i brought up the un subject with him and got this interesting reply.

The orgs HYPOCRISY exist because they know, THEY KNOW they would have ANYBODY disfellowshipped who publicly acknowledged their support of the United Nations and its charter!

I believe the borg masters have such hate, such contempt for the R&F. This is why they keep actions like their UN involvement a secret because they don't TRUST their flock to follow them.

This is true because in Jesus parable the sheep hear the true shepherds voice and follow him where ever he goes. They wont follow a strangers voice and will run from a stranger because they don't recognize the true shepherds voice.

In light of this the borg masters HAVE to use cunning and trickery to keep it's flock "following" them. A million and one rules, constantly changing doctrines disguised as "new light", and secretly associating with and "touching" the unclean thing (UN affiliation) while openly condeming others for doing the same.

They KNOW their hands are dirty from their worldly actions. They just keep betting on their many "good works" to get them into heaven.

Didn't they learn anything from the lesson of the Pharisees?

Yep. Still got "issues" and will have them for some time to come. Not to worry however. There are worse things in life. I could be a starving, freezing, Afgahn child waiting for a bomb to be dropped on my head, so i'm not complaining...., that much.

I want to be the brother who works his arse off helping all the "friends" in the cong. with broken cars, tall grass, busted plumbing, being mag. servent, territory servent, puketower reader, book study reader, mike runner, etc., and be STRIPPED of EVERY %@#$! *@# responsibility for asking a few "questions" all the while enduring humilating sceens like having the microphone SNATCHED OUT OF MY HAND because I did not know I had that responsibility removed from me!

THEEEEEEN I want to be ignored by selfrighteous pinheads.
