well today was the day of yet another special talk.
you know the ones where everyone in the world is supposed to get the same one.. anyway, i noticed very little special about this talk which was about keeping jehovahs fearsome day close at hand or something like that.. it was the standard doom and gloom but arent we lucky we have a hope kind of talk and was nothing new except for one thing.
there was no mention about the generation passing away.

Just LOOOOVED those scriptural miss-interpretations! My favorite was Acts 4: 12 where they apply the person being spoken about to Jehovah and not to Jesus, where he CLEARLY is being spoken about.
Oh, then there was Christ 'parousia' since 1914 and NOT since 1874.

i am currently having visits made on me by the elders,who are trying to help me "unbelieve" the things i have learned to be true from the bible, which naturally contradict wt doctrine.. as well as asking me "where else will you go" they said that members of the public walking into a kingdom hall expect all within it to be jehovah's witnesses holding firmly to their doctrines and not holding divergent viewpoints like i do.
they said it would not be proper for someone to hold a belief that was contrary to the society and still be expected to remain a jw, even in name only.
i have stated to them that i can no longer preach the wt version of the "good news" so they automatically assumed that i am not obeying jesus' command to preach.. i am in a bit of a predicament as you can see.

I'm there myself so I know how you feel. I stopped going to meetings altogether. Now I'm just waiting for God to lead me where the grass is greener, so to speak. I'm married to a lifelong JW so it's tricky.
Be brave. The roads' bumpy but you'll get through. Remeber, what's impossible with man IS possible with God. Trust Him. He will see you through your darkest valley.

mrs ozzie and i had a very pleasant visit yesterday to a lady who has plenty of questions as she seeks the truth about 'the troof'.. she told us that as a young 18 year old she commenced regular pioneering and has many memories of her time in the borg.
now in her early 60s she has many questions.

I liken the elder "thumping" reaction to what happens when you TRY to logicaly discuss the trinity doctrine with a true believer. One seems to get a lot of raised voices and repeatted afformations as to the trinity's truthfulness but VERY little directly answered questions.
I guess there are certain subjects that cannot be answered logicaly but must be believed in to keep cohesion within the group/collective.
This 'reaction' also necessatates lableing or 'marking' the questioning individual, intimidating and isolating them to KEEP QUITE!!!
As peaceloving as I am, there is the thought of 'attending' a judicial cm where I follow three elders into a back room. I stop, turn around, and LOCK the door. Then I take off my jacket, then my shirt. I then kick the neatly rowed foldup chairs outta my way. And much to the looks of shock and horror on their selfrightous faces I begin to "THUMP" a melodic rhapsody on each of their heads. The precussionary harmony would be soothingly delightful.

i have watched the discussion on this forum for some time,have never been able to commit to a response.. my question is this , while recognizing the catharsis of discussion and debate ,when do we say enough is enough and get on with it?(life).

I think people come here as a matter of therapy. Blow some steam and such. I know it's therapy for me. When most everybody you know are witnesses then it's like having a disscussion group of 1, and that realy sucks/bites/blows/hurls chunks and such.
Everybodies situation is different I guess. Mabey you don't have to deal with too many people who are still "in", mabey you do. I hope it's the former.
Anyway, being a witness is a part of all our lives in some way. I guess boards like this are ways some choose to deal with that part of what makes us who we are.

when i was young i used to love reading comic books and still have a collection.the marvel commics were always my favorite.although i liked alot of the different characters i would have to say spiderman was my favorite .i can't wait to see the movie it looks so cool from the previews.so common i know some of ya are into comics ,let's have it whose your favorite super hero or villian?

Superman was always very moral, very good hearted. He always believed in the value of the human being, not wanting to take life.
And whenever the bad guys/aliens started to zap him with ray guns and energy beams you would always see the red "S" insignia outlined on his chest as he took the punishment and then dished out justice in spades.

sometimes i think back at all the people i helped "into the truth".

all of those people now under its control.. one of my regrets in life.. anyone else here ever think about this?.
I'm glad most all my efforts at bringing people "in" resulted in FAILURE. I don't like to push things on people they don't want, which is why I made such a horrible shoe-salesman.

things happened with my mom (dad couldn't get back from his out of town job) and i ended up being guilted into going to the memorial with her after all.
at least she agreed to take the kids home with her afterwards so my friend and i could still go out for a few drinks afterwards (which were much needed after that experience).. i'm da'd so many there smiled when they saw me and it immediately froze on their faces as they tried to look the other way.

Don't feel bad about going. You showed your mom a kindness. I'm sure she appreaciated it. I stopped going to the meetings 8 months ago but I went to the "anti-memorial" with my wife and she said she realy appreaciated me being there. Small sacrifice for me. I crushed some crackers with my thumb and wiped my hands over the top part of the wine glass.
