I am a fader who's played the "higher education makes high demands of my time" card. They shake their heads at me for sure, but there is little they can do. It's easy for them to fall for that cos that's EXACTLY what they want to hear about pursuing tertiary education.
Legolas' suggestion might work from the sounds of it. Especially since you are married to a zealous pioneer? Did I understand that bit correctly?

okay, so i just woke up from my watchtower life coma on september 15, 2004. in july of 2005 i moved 2300 miles away to southern california in an attempt to fade.
i haven't communicated with any of my former jw friends... but i thought this one old friend was sure to be safe.... years ago when i was an elder, he used to find all sorts of stuff about jws on the internet--and (as we were very close) he'd ask me about it.
he'd been an ms for awhile, then eventually began drifting back.
I had an experience similar to yours, Confession. I had been stirring things up over the higher education issue. Gossip was hot. And then this old pal of mine returns to the congregation (he was previously serving in another state). Now my pal has always had issues with how things were done in the organization, and was keenly aware of the way the brothers played politics and jostled one another for power. But our meetup wasn't as productive as I'd thought it would be. He was very very much defending the education policies and deliberately chose to ignore the double talk. He'd lost the spark, the frank sense of justice I had once admired back when I was a brainwashed zealot.
I was really disappointed. Thought I had a comrade to share my angst. Instead I found a newly brainwashed zealot. It felt very different from then on. Like we had so little in common to bother being close friends again. Well what can ya do, eh?

how could people become anointed ones without the holy spirit and Jehovah on the side of the Organization?
Why do we have to necessarily accept that they are what they claim to be? I mean how does one prove that he/she is an anointed one?
Long years of service? Profound knowledge of the Bible? There are many who fall into this category and yet do not claim to belong to this class.
Conviction that he/she will be going to heaven? By this same conviction young Muslim men have been ready to sacrifice their lives to perform terrorist acts. Are you so confident it is beyond the human mind to convince itself and those of others that a celestial destiny awaits him or her? An anointed JW needn't assure us of his convictions with a grenade, just a bold sip of wine and a nibble of dry bread is all it takes.
but after this he had no interest in going to the paradise, and instantly looked forward to a time when he would rule as a king in heaven.
Look at it this way: it would be rather stupid of him to tell people he still intends to build himself a mansion in the "New World" after announcing that he is going to rule in heaven, don't you think?

What an odd woman! I hope she does really well for herself as a JW and ends up volunteering at Bethel. Maybe she can do her spooky, I'm-a-killer-clown-in-disguise giggles while eavesdropping on a Governing Body meeting. I would pay good money to see the looks on their faces when she giggles herself into that meeting room.

after watching a video involving kirk cameron, i now see the error of my ways, and will be tithing 50% of my income to the church every month out of contrition.. .

i am in a dilema at school that i need some feedback on.
my geography professor is a young caucasian man in his mid 30's.
he is very knowlegable about the other countries in the world but he always seem to make negative statements about blacks, hispanics, asians and native americans.
In any case, only you can decide when his comments are seriously impairing his job as college professor.I disagree. I feel that the college professor is "seriously impairing his job". The statement that you made is just like blaming a rape victim for turning in the rapist.
Dear Ms Mcducket
I am merely making the point that only booker-t can decide if there is a genuine problem here and whether this problem must be addressed. We've heard the reasons to suspect the professor is racist. Only booker knows if there are any reasons NOT to think this man is racist.
I am not as eager as you to deliver a mandate to booker on what to do in this situation. It is unwise to rashly interpret my lack of conviction as a lack of nerve or even a serious case of "blaming the victim". Being a college-going JW, I know what it is like to be discriminated against. Yet I do not rush to inflict unfair accusations against people, esp when they have reasons other than prejudice, affecting their behaviour. I prefer to give people the benefit of doubt before making conclusions about their character.

From what you've said so far, he sounds like he is prejudiced against some ethnic groups. But is he a genuine racist? He mentioned an ex-fiance who was "a black girl".
Would a genuine racist be involved in such a relationship? Maybe he's nursing a grudge to lick the wounds of love.
In any case, only you can decide when his comments are seriously impairing his job as college professor.

Has anyone else noticed that in a typical JW mind, one could very easily replace "Satan" and "God" with "apostates" and "FDS"?? Oh and "Adam"/"man" can also be replaced with "true servant of Jah".
Anyone else noticed this subliminal pattern of thought??
Or is that boringly obvious to us JWD regulars??
