  does anybody honestly think that all this exposure about the wtb&ts and the un really going to matter much in the jw community?

  sure, it matters to us, since we already know the truth about the wt.

  but it won't even make a dent in the jw population.

  Yes you are right those who fight whithin the Org for change are doing an excellent work they would not be able to do from the outside as well and have stayed in for another strategic reason,so broadly I would say they belong to the 2nd group,I dont mean to catergorize or pigeon hole but I just seem to find with some JW,s just let them get on with it,but Cygnus you are on the ball with those two ,lol.

  Hi Vita,
  You mirror my thoughts about seven years ago,I got hold of this book,'In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz,'which is absolutely brilliant in answering the questions you ask and clearly shows how the watchtower has twisted the true message of the bible from obedience to Christ to obedience and subjection to a religious institution,unfortunately or fortunately as I see it you wont find the answers in any religion as very often the organizations agenda is to sustain itself as an organization not to serve its members but it should be the other way around.

  Usually a Witness would not venture on to sites like this unless by accident or unless they were already starting to have doubts due to things they have witnessed in the Org that do not add up to the image they originally believed in, and having not found answers in the organization are taking nervouse steps to look outside,always with an element of fear in the background due to not having been deprogramed.
  I can remember years ago when a witness having a leaflet thrust into my hand outside an assembly and being completely scared at looking at its contents which I had already been warned about reading such dangerous material,so I threw it away like a good JW,the only thing I saw on that leaflet was a bold headline 1914 with a question mark next to it.
  There are 3 types of JWs in my book
  1. The decieved,who are indoctrinated and sincerely believe they have the truth but some may have some doubts pushed to the recesses of the mind.
  2.Those who know all is not well or even realise it is a big con,they have taken the biggest step and are mentaly free of watchtower slavery,but have family wife etc,so have made a strategic decision not to formally leave yet for this reason.
  3.The deciever.This is the worst type,no longer decieved but a deciever and become willing tools of deception they dont obey all the watchtower dictates themselves but hypocriticaly tell others they should,and argue publicaly are all out championing the borg, prehaps they value their prestige or position in the organization,they know its wrong but find it advantageouse to support a corrupt organization and stick up for it no matter what.
  I would not waste my time with the latter.

  Whats your thoughts on sex & the WTS

  hopefully this topic won't shock anyone, i'll try to keep my comments as tasteful as possible.

  just recently (last weekend) my younger brother met with the elders because he was engaged in fornication.

  the elders decided to disfellowship him even though he had long stopped having any contact with the person he had been involved with.

  Its wierd how obsessed the WT are with sex,so many witnesses are drunkards and stay in so called good standing but sex is on the top of the sin list,appart from so called appostasy.
  Its strange that ancient men of old who were counted as rightouse had countless wives and concubines,think of all the orgies they could have with those wives and concubines,yet one reason given for it being OK at the time was that no divine law was made against it until Jesus spoke many years later,so in other words if this was so reprehensive to God why was it not ruled out from the start? How can someone one day do something and be counted rightouse and the next day disgusting?
  Another reason given for it being OK was that the Jews had a mandate to reproduce and spread the nation but after Christ the mandate was no longer to spread the Jewish nation so multiple wives and concubines(or sex slaves doubling as breeding machines)were no longer required due to the change in circumstances.
  But similar reasoning could be used to Justify recreational sex today ie a change in circumstances due to the availability of contraception etc it could be rationalized that such need not result in unwanted pregnancies etc the main opposition to such,so it all seems a bit wierd to me sometimes.
