  How Long is a Creative Day?

  to jw's everywhere - can you supply the most recent reference from the literature that tells how long a creative day is?

  and, can you supply the most recent reference to a "creative day" for comparison?

  if you're not sure of the answer, perhaps you should write to the society and ask.

  No Im not a current JW
  But anyway the JWs official belief has not changed ,that is a creative day is 7000 years,they dont talk much in more recent literature about it and if you asked most witnesses they would fudge the issue by saying the creative days were not literal days but very long periods of time,they have never recounted on their Fred Franze era teaching that the creative days are equal periods of 7000 years,and that we are now near the end of the last day,the rest day,which would end at the end of the 1000 year reign.
  I dont think that the watchtower mentions this definition now because that would put the start of the creative days as about 48000 years ago and the realm of mammals like dinasours much more recent still which is would not wash well with educated people.

  Witnesses of Jehovah?

  i have often wondered, those folk on that video witnesses of jehovah,its a few years since it was made,i wonder how the folk in the video are getting on.does anyone know them,do they visit here?

  .

  also i think it would be good if a new version was made more up to date with new stuff like the failed generation the un etc,i remeber when i was a witness about 5 months before i left someone who was not a jw lent me the video 'witnesses of jehovah,' and although i was a bit scared about watching it myself and another witness friend did actually get the courage to watch the video,and although there were some things of the video that i were dismisive of other thigs did reach us deep down inside and were part ot the contribution of myself and friends way out of the watchtower,also seeing clips of russel on video etc talking about the pyramids were new to me,im sure there are plenty of volunteers who would take part in a good documentary,updated.

  faithful and discreet slave-33AD till 1914?

  recently, i have come across a question pertaining to the whereabouts of the faithful and discreet slave between the time of the first century christians and 1914.. i have heard two separate things.. 1) that there was no break between the time of the first century christians, and that there was in some way a faithful and discreet slave here on earth.

  note: wt march 1, 1981, p24.

  "jehovah's witnesses believe that this parable to the one true congregation of jesus christ's anointed followers.

  The time between 607 and 1614 is the time when they believe God had no kindom as such on earth,ie the time when the earthly kingdom of Israel fell,after which the Kingly line ended at their contraversial date 607,untill 1914 when christ kicked satan out of heaven and assumed rule over earth invisibly,although they believe that this is the time when woe began for earth since Satan is on earth knowing he has a short time left,and christ is seen as riding out on the first horse of the appocalpse followed by the other horses,conquering and aiming to complete conquest at Armaggedon.
  But you are right,the official belief is that there was an unbroken line from the Apostles to the modern day in which God always had representatives of a slave class on earth,this is a seperate issue to the kingly throne re establishment,but I anm not supprized that many witnesses are un aware of their own doctorine becuse the Society tries to teach 2 opposite things at the same time
  1. that Christ always had a slave class to dispense food at the proper time from 33 ce to Russel,and russel was just a continuation of that line,they have even had articles to claim that groups such as the Waldaneese wre among these faithful ones,overlooking such minor facts like the Waldaneese were trinitarian.
  and 2. that the world was in spiritual darkness until Russel came along.

  If the issue is about can man manage without God,Why is a superhuman creature and his demon buddies alowed to interfere,it seems according to the Wit theory that it more of an issue between God and Satan and humans are pawns stuck in the middle,
  if it was simply between man and God thats one thing,but to have a superhuman creatures which are hell bent on their own agenda interfering seems very unfair,its like someone trying to walk a tightrope while someone from below is permited to throw rocks and missiles at them.

  i don't know about the rest of you, but there's something that grates on me like new chalk on a blackboard.. i refer to that expression jws use to describe that threadbare tapestry of conjecture, fill-in-the-blanks theological approach to doctrines the bible leaves hazy and judgmental moralism that comprises the wt belief system-- you know, ``the truth," as in ``he/she left the truth,'' or ``how long have you been in the truth?''.

  may i suggest that it be amended to ``the opinion?

  It was the sharp family who went abroad,they moved to New Guenea,the Race family also moved away to kent but Mark,went to London bethel.Mark had ginger curly hair and played all this shadows stuff with some other wits in a group,remember,and I can remember a couple of wit concerts,where one guy was dressed as a clown,diane west sang leaving on a jet plane,remember Carole Lake,she was a very big lady and quite vocal,also there was Vic and nancy jacobs who went to pioneer in Zaire.

  I think the continual expression of the term 'The Truth,'as almost used like a chant,and form of collective self reasurance,so that sub consciously it is just taken for granted that it must be the truth,because its how everyone references it all the time,other control groups continualy use the same catch phrase as a form of group reinforcement.Facts stand as facts on the merit of the truthfulness of info presented and,not on how many times you say a certain catchphrase,it could almost be said that it is a form of self hypnosis that JW's and many other groups employ,when real facts are presented that contradict this ,assumed 'Truth' you usually get that glazed expression back,the info doesent often even get a look in because so deep rooted and hypnotic is the assumption,'This is the truth',This is the truth'constantly repetitively reinforced like a chant,all else is automatically false.
  It is purely a confidence trick and literal truth need have no relevance as only one viewed a fool or madman would be seen as questioning this self assumption among the group.

  Forgive the Governing Body

  i dont hate the governing body, nor the president.. not even rutherford.. after reading all that old dub material i came to believe all those old croakers running the org are just pathetic, brainwashed old men, trapped in their 60 years of organizational experience.. i feel sorry for the old fossils.. imagine all the life experience theyve missed out on.. imagine the disaapointment when they finally go up the tunnel of light into death and find out theyve been slaves to an entity that eats souls.. they just dont know any better.. i pity them.

  not hate them.. compassionate and forgiving aint i?.

  The Nazis who gassed millions of Jews may have rationalized that they were doing good because it could be argued that they were brainwashed and had had their victims de humanized in their minds due to the propoganda that prevailed in nazi Germany,but should they be hated for what they did?
  Personally I look back and think to be honest even though I was brainwashed,I helped support a corrupt system,unwittingly as it was,it was me that allowed that organization to fool me and control me and and overide my powers of perception,sometimes I think us humans are such suckers.
