Reward the behavior you want repeated. Sounds like you're in a position of authority. If so, setting objectives is a good first step, but don't overwhelm people with all the changes you want to make. This group has been at it for awhile, it's unlikely you'll be able to change overnight.

If you're eating tofu, you may consider skipping that. There are other foods besides soy that are goitrogenic:

Avoid chlorinated water, drinking spring water or water filtered via reverse osmosis. You can also buy filters for your shower and tub that filters chlorine out. Also avoid fluoride in toothpaste and water.
Chiropractors say that if the spine in the neck is out of alignment, that will affect thyroid functioning as well. -

Why Men Cannot Love
by freydi inso let's say we do everything that's expected.
what's the payoff?

freyd, What's the payoff, for whom? The man or woman? I think each person has to define the payoff for himself/herself. Some women do want the financial security, but I wouldn't make a sweeping generalization stating that's what ALL women are looking for. (I'm financially secure, so that's not of utmost important to me.)

my only "friends" were bethelites and congregation members.
i left bethel 2 years ago and underwent a thorough investigation of the 'truth' without the so called blinders.

List of childhood simple pleasures...

rubbing the stubble on the nape of your neck all day the day you get a haircut...

Slipping and sliding down the slip n slide.
Playing kickball and badminton in the evenings after the heat of the day subsided.
Staying up to 2AM playing Monopoly.
Putting records on the turntable and dancing like crazy fools.
Sitting in front of the window unit air conditioner, pointing all the vents at me while I buried my nose in a Nancy Drew mystery.
Making fairy necklaces out of clover.
Climbing up the mimosa trees, sitting and stripping the leaves.
Spritzing each other with the water hose.
Flying kites.
And I ask, what prevents me from doing any of this now?
